Hello and Happy Holidays!
John Patrick Shanley's searing comedy, Savage In Limbo closed Sunday night, December 21, 2008 after a hugely successful run at Chill Wine Bar 173 Main Street in downtown Beacon, NY. Even the canceling of Friday nights' performance, due to the Nor easter that blew through could not daunt the spirits of the dedicated and talented cast and crew of this, the first professionally staged production under an Actors Equity Association contract in the city of Beacon in at least 25 years. Overcoming a shortened rehearsal (2 weeks) period and casting challenges proved to be no problem for the members of the newest addition to Hudson Valley's growing list of professional theater companies. Flying Swine's Founding Artistic Director, Donald Kimmel mounted this production with assurance, and a creative vision for brining professional theater to Beacon. And from all the audience comments, he succeeded! For more information about Flying Swine visit their web site at www.flyingswine.org . The cast of Savage in Limbo included Mary Sheridan as Denise Savage, Heidi James as Linda Rotunda, Michael Benjamin as Tony Aronica, Estelle Bajou as April White and Phil Gardiner as Murk. Set design by Dana Kenn. Stage Manager, Polly Solomon. Costumes Erika Furey. Marketing, Cabot Parsons. Advertising Jenifer Wenk. Board members include: Donald Kimmel, President; Robert Rutigliano, Secretary; Jeffrey S.E. Sculley, Treasurer; Jerry Austin, Maia Guest, and Michale Mell. Sponsors include: Antalek & Moore Insurance Company and Rider, Weiner & Frankel, P.C. This project would not have been possible without a grant from the Dutchess County Ars Council, and the generous support of individual contributors which made up over 50% of the budget for the production. Special thanks also goes out to Jim Svetz (Owner of Chill), Parsons James Design, LT & Kitty Sherpa, Willis McCree, Carol Flaitz, Artisan Wine Shop, and Chris Kringles for the Santa Suit.
