The previous comment was obviously written by a piece of trash with no respect for life or family. Kirsten Henry's life was stolen from her and her three children, who now get to live the rest of their lives having witnessed their mothers death. They were in the car with her when the drunken woman (herself a mother) decided to drive while obviously impared. The drunk driver destroyed the lives of her children and that of the SOBER Kirestn Henry's children. The person who wrote the previous comment has no class and appears to be one of those people who gets a rise out of inapproriate statements. I just hope that you never suffer such a loss.

How they could convict a man for just serving drinks is beyond me. It is a shame that these two mothers died but is a bartender supposed to watch and be responsible for how every drunk person gets home? You are convicting a man for doing his job, even if he had cut her off after she was drunk she still wouldve gotten in her car and driven home. Are we not responsible for our own actions anymore? If she had lived they would be convicting her of vehicular manslaughter and they wouldnt have gone after the bartender. That means now every time someone gets pulled over for drinking and driving you can blame the bartender and haul him into court too. It is an absolutly ridiculous verdict and I believe it will be overturned when they appeal. And as for the Super Bowl pool he was convicted of having, I would like you to find a bar that DOESNT have a Super Bowl pool...yet another stupid ruling by a judge who obviously has no clue.

I belive and this is coming from an ex bartender that it is the bartender that is responsible for how much is served to a person not the bar owner the bartender i believe every bartende should have a license to serve at a bar this way it also protects the bar owner from responsiblity A bartender should be issued a license like a drivers license with points against them if someone leaves after you have served them you are just as responsible as the one who drank and you should lose your license for ever and this way it is an extra protection for the bar owner. The only thing Mr. Knox did wrong was his wrong judgement in whom he hired to work his bar for him. Because it is now all coming down on him and it is not his fault. He did not force the drinks down her throat she did it herself. And now everyone else has to pay for her own drunkin stupidity after she is gone. The living ones have to suffer for her faults.

As a former bar owner, I can tell you that there are many alcoholic beverage laws that have laid dormant in NY State for quite sometime and gambling in a bar is one of the many. Over serving a customer is another. You are also not allowed to swear in a bar, or display a picture of Santa Claus. Bartenders are pharmacists. They mix a legal drug and serve it to the of age public. The State offers alcohol server awareness training and I suggest all bartenders take the classes. I also encourage bartenders to brush up on the laws of the State Liquor Authority. The State is broke and they are dusting off all these old laws and busting bar businesses and individual bartenders all over the state to create revenue in the fines they impose. Not knowing is no defense. BTW...My partner and I closed our bar because the liability was too stressful. We were responsible bar owners to our detriment. I have taken keys from customers too drunk to drive and lost their business as a result. Of course the drunk person had nothing to lose if he killed someone. We, on the other hand, would lose our livelihood. Not to mention that if they got a DWI it might ruin THEIR life. We were so strict because the State makes it so the drunk has no accountability. Don't get me wrong. There are PLENTY of irresponsible barowners and bartenders. They make it tough for those of us who have a conscience.
