With a new school year begun, all authorities want to remind and/or let everyone know that interactions of any kind between male and female students at any and all schools within the borders of DuPage County, Illinois is now illegal in DuPage County and is punishable by suspension, expulsion and/or up to 3 years in jail. That includes any type of socializing, exchange of personal information, including phone numbers, emails, home addresses, and such. In addition to that, male and female students are forbidden to be within less than five (5) feet of each other. These laws apply to school students of all ages, including adults. (Under DuPage County law, any type of place or institution where learning takes place, including high schools, colleges, universities, kindergarden, junior high, graduate schools, etc, is legally defined as a school.) Also, any person of any age, even if the person is a grown adult, who takes classes at any school is legally defined as a student. Interactions between 2 or more students of the same gender, however, are still allowed in all DuPage County schools. But any type of interaction between, for instance, a male student and a female student, or even 2 male students and 1 female student, or vice versa, is illegal and forbidden in all DuPage County schools. And that goes for adult students as well. Also, in addition to the above, public display of affection (PDA) is illegal in the entire state of Illinois. That includes hugging, kissing, fondling, hand holding, and really any type of physical contact between 2 or more persons and is punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment.

For more clarity on what areas of school are off limits to male-female student interactions, the areas are; inside and within less than 300 feet of any school building, and on any part of school grounds and/or property that is owned by and/or used by the school for any purposes.

The criminal offense of male-female student interactions in DuPage County, regardless of age, even if all involved are grown adults, by the way, is now called statutory stalking.

The reason for this new law is that male-female student interactions appear to be extremely disruptive to the learning/education environment. According to Sheriff 1 of Glen Ellyn; "School is not designed to be a social place. It is designed strictly to get an education." "School is not for meeting boyfriends/girlfriends and arrainging dates. People are in school only to learn and get the best grade possible. And male-female student interactions disrupt all of that by causing one or both to forget to do their homework, study for tests/exams, and also causes students' minds to wander completely off track in class, which leads to failing grades." says Sheriff 2 of Villa Park.

For more clarity of what is defined as a school, by the way, the term "school" is defined as any type of institution or place where education and learning of any type take place. That means that under DuPage County law, for example; an elementary school is legally defined as a school, a college is legally defined as a school, a university is legally defined as a school, a graduate school is legally defined as a school, a high school is legally defined as a school, kindergarten is legally defined as school, a junior high school is legally defined as a school, and so forth. And any person who takes even one class per school year at any school, regardless of how long or short the class term is and what type of class it is, is legally defined as a student.

In addition to interactions between students of the same gender still being permitted in DuPage County schools, interactions between students and staff/teachers of the opposite gender are still allowed under DuPage County law. To make it more clear, for example, interactions between for instance a male student and a female teacher, or a female student and a male teacher are still permitted at all schools. But interactions between, for instance, a male student and a female student at any school are prohibited and illegal in DuPage County.

By the way, male-female student interactions are also forbidden, illegal, and classified as statutory stalking at any and all sporting events and sporting practices that are sponsored by any school that take place within the County. Sporting events/practices, under DuPage County law include but are not limited to cheerleading pom pons, golf, swimming, football, basketball, track, and anything connected to any school sponsored sporting event that takes place within DuPage County.

Male-female student interactions are indeed extremely disruptive to the learning environment. Interactions between male and female students in school are the main cause of a lot of failing grades due to the extreme distractions caused by what is known as a sort of 'chemical' change in the brain caused by the male-female student interaction that causes, for example, the male student to think more about the female student instead of paying full attention to the teacher's lectures, studying for tests, quizzes, and exams, doing their homework, and concentrating on class activities. The same also happens with the female student as well. That is a very serious situation that is not to be taken lightly! That is why interactions between male and female students are now illegal throughout DuPage County, Illinois and are punishable by jail. School is strictly to get an education and get the best grades possible, and is absolutely under no circumstances designed to be used as a 'dating place' to meet boyfriends/girlfriends. The Forbes.com magazine may have listed 'school' as the 6th best place to find a date, but in DuPage County,'school' is to be considered booted off forbes's list of best places to find a boyfriend/girlfriend and replaced with a warning that if you attempt to strike up a conversation with a student in school of the opposite gender in DuPage County, Illinois, you will be arrested and charged with statutory stalking, and you will go to jail for up to 3 and even as long as 5 years.(Yes people, the DuPage County Jail is in fact authorized to hold inmates for that long!)

The 'chemical' change in the brain caused by male-female student interactions also severely reduces one's concentration while doing tests, exams, quizzes; in fact it can even cause near total disruption of one's concentration while doing exams, tests, and quizzes. And near total disruption of concentration especially on tests, exams, and quizzes will pretty much guarantee a poor (D/F) grade in class.

Important update;

Exchange of personal information including but not limited to phone numbers and emails between male and female students of any age at or near any school within DuPage County has just been separated from the regular statutory stalking offense of social interactions between male and female students and upgraded to the offense of felony statutory stalking and made punishable by a minimum sentence of 15 years imprisonment.

That law has just passed with flying colors. Like in DuPage County, any educational institution is legally defined as a school under Illinois state law. That includes colleges and universities. Violators now face state prison instead of the county jail, and juvenilles, including children, will be tried as adults.
