Dont live in Doddridge and dont have a Pony in the race and either way the local election will not affect me. It will affect ALL of YOU. We have our issues and problems here in Harrison County and with any election on any level you are going to have your dirty political tricks, mud slinging etc. My reason for posting on this thread is this: I know and work with Chuck Henning and heard about some of the posts put on here. I guess you could make the case that I am biased on the subject of him but this is due to the fact I know him and what he is all about. These are the facts and the truth, he is a highly respected, highly talented Investigator in this county. I am an Investigator with a major department in the county and have not only worked with him but have called him and asked for his advice and assistance on several cases as have other officers with ALL departments in the county. I have read a lot of untrue and false things about him on here and that is a shame. Chuck would make an excellent Sheriff for Doddridge County and the people of Doddridge would be more than satisfied with his performance. I am aware of his so called past (as was referred on this post), as is most everyone else here in the county. The only thing that I am going to say about it, is that what was done to him was wrong and quite honestly some of it was not legal. He has dealt with the situation much better than I would have and moved on. My opinion of it is that regardless of what you think of the situation it is no way a reflection of his abilities and job performance. If some of the claims made against him were true, he would not be an active law enforcement officer and where he is today. This is also fact, I know nothing of the other candidates and can and will not say anything about them one way or the other, but I will say that Doddridge County has never had a qualified person that has been Sheriff, or ran for Sheriff because that is fact. If the people of Doddridge County elect a candidate for Sheriff that is not qualiifed for that posiition, then the people of Doddridge County should not expect a professional, effective Sheriff's Department. Everyone will not like what I had to say but these are the facts and that IS the truth.

He struck me as very professional and from what I've read of his background (excluding personal) he seems well qualified. I wish him well in his career at Shinnston location. The past incident in his personal life will haunt him when it comes to electability for sheriff because of the concerns of being a hothead or loose cannon.

Though that can be said of so many already in these elected offices, as well as the many who manage to get themselves elected into office dispite being horribly incompetent and unqualified. Guess it always boils down to a popularity contest and who can sling the most dirt against a candidate and fool the most people.

Considering the fact that Headley has no law enforcement experience, I see one positive thing from the Sheriff's race...the county can now save money paying other people to work on the vehicle fleet. This will give him something to do that he does have experience at.

There you have it: I guess the citizens don't share your opinion. Or it wouldnt of been such a blowout. My hats off to Mike, he ran a fair non slanderous race. And the county spoke out. I feel Mike could make a good Sheriff. If you remember one thing everyone is told as a child while growing is "Everyone deserves a chance." so with that being said give him fair chance. You can never fault someone for trying to better themselves. And I feel he could be good for the county. So just give an honest man a fair chance.

I agree. Jerry, with his knowledge of the drug and other issues plagueing West Union will be an asset by remaining just where he is. He's a good guy, and one who can give Mike a lot of support for the good of the county.
