I heard today that there is going to be a third candidate for sheriff. that chuck guy who ran last time. can't remember his last name. So it's going to be Mike H., Jerry T. and not this other one to divide the vote. anyone else heard this?

Don't need to divide the vote this time ---- Unless there is the 4th "unknown" candidate!

If that guys name is chuck H ,was he not a doddridge cop at one time and got busted and lost his job and is now a cop for another county?? and now wants to be the sheriff ??So it 's ok for the sex offender from the west union EMS to be a EMT now, RIGHT !! If we can allow one to do this then why not open the gates of Hell and allow anyone to do and be as they wish. Just as long as they say "IAM SORRY" ?? Gave me a F--en Break.

EJ, the sex offender was not an EMT, but a driver.

YOUR right, but my point was if we can allow a cop back then why not allow the sex offender to drive once again. and then go and become a EMT ? if this cop can now run for sheriff.

I heard the other day that there was maybe a trooper or retired trooper, something along that who was planning on running. Did not catch the name, anyone else hear anything. Are there any around here that we could vote for or again is it just a rumor? Just wondering.

Only 3 I know of so far is Mike H., Jerry Turner, and this Chuck guy who apparently carries some baggage? Don't know him, just what is said by people who apparently do.

I believe he threw his hat in at the race late in the game last time when Carson was up for reelection. I think this might have diluted the vote with the extra candidate in the mix and turned out to give Carson a win by the skin of his teeth. Wasn't it only a couple of votes that Carson won by last time?

Politics is a sneaky business. LOL Always strategies at play behind the scenes.

Personally, I should think that anyone running for sheriff must have a fairly clean record and no convictions. Hard to take a law officer seriously if they are above the law themselves. So I should think info about a candidate's criminal record, or lack thereof should be fair game when considering the integrity of any candidate!

The only ones i know of that are running are Mike H Jerry T and Chuck Henning the cop that went off the wall why he was working for the shriffs dept. That is the only ones i have heard of. The Chuck guy did get in trouble an went to jail and some how was able to still be a cop up in clarksburg some where i think. i dont think i would want a guy like that being shirff a guy with a short fuse and a gun what could that lead to?

My Vote will be for Mike H. He is fair, honest, and has criminal Justice background from college. He is over qualified compared to what we have now.

Well i for one know my vote will be for jerry he is a kind honest fair man. And he has done alot for the town of West union as the city police he is a cop and is cirtified that alone makes hime the best pick he knows what he is doing and how things should be done unlike puting some one in there that does not have a law enforsement back ground just because you went to school and have a criminal justice back ground dont mean any thing it means your book smart but being a cop you need exprence an should know what your doing already so i know how i am going to vote but every one has there own openion this is just mine.

Jerry is the only real pick for Doddridge County Sheriff,He has the brains and the proper Education and like 16 yrs as Police chief and has brought the city police dept from the stone age to keep it up to date with a shoe string budget. As for the others who want to be Top Cop they have nothing to offer,A bad cop, a guy who works in a gas station and who knows what.Do you want these other guys to do on the JOB trainning with your lives?? at our cost and expense ? I dont think so, Mr Turner has proven what he can do and will do!!!!!!!!!!

I'd hardley say that the actual job duties of sheriff encompasses putting our lives in his hands. Actually the role of sheriff is primarily that of tax collector for the county, serving papers, summons, etc. and being an administrator. Those are the actual job duties of the position.-- Not rambo cruising the streets at night keeping us safe while we slumber. It is simply an administrative position within the county government.

We have state police who handle criminal activities and it is optional that the sheriff even carry a gun at all! So I'd say using the "putting our life in his hands" tactic for qualifying a candidate for sheriff is a bit of a stretch.

I am undecided as yet with regard to which of the three candidates is most qualified. I will surely do my homework before forming an opinion. Too soon yet, as other matters are more pressing this early in the game.

But, I will support whichever candidate appears to have a good head for, and proven experience in administration, is capable of filling out the necessary paperwork to get the county long overdue grant money, and can be a good, level-headed personnel manager of the deputies and tax dept. personnel that he would be overseeing.

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but if any candidate is backed by the Republican Executive Committee, then I would have to think long and hard about voting for that person. I say, see which candidates (for all offices) that they (the Republican Executive Committee) are backing and vote for someone else!

maybe we should base our selection on the choices we have made with previous sheriffs.
such as: tobacco use in public buildings
alchohol consumption on and off duty
theft allegations
covering up relatives criminal activity
size of gun collection and how it was
acquired
ability to use profanity
failure to answer 911 calls

based on the above qualifications.there's really only one qualified candidate. and he's not eligible to run this time.

Have to agree with ya, RESNABL. After all, Jack and his cronies brought us the likes of Angie, Jerry, and Shirley. And the one candidate who has proven himself to be a watchdog of the county citizens' tax dollars (Sandora)did not even get a public endorsement or funding from the committee. Instead, one of their own defected to run against the republican the people chose.

So, any candidate that is endorsed by the county republican exec. committee is a candidate I'll NOT vote for. Remember folks...Jackass (oops) Adams and his republican cronies only have as much power and influence that YOU choose to give them. And I give them none.

Any candidate who seeks out their support and endorsement, is a candidate that I will very openly and loudly campaign against. A person is known by the company he/she keeps when it comes to politics. And choosing to align themselves with Jack, Lewis, et. all, says to me that they are not a candidate with OUR best interests at heart. IN MY OPINION, of course!!!

Normaly I dont respond to the comments on these forums, they are normaly just utilized as a gossip/rumor mill. The concept is a great idea everyone is entitled to thier opinion and has a right to express that opinion. I do have an obligation to the voting public and to make sure they get the facts.I am running for Sheriff in the 2012 election. I was never "busted" or fired or anything else for that matter, in April 2008 I resigned from the Sheriff's Department by my own choice. I have made some stupid mistakes and I'm not perfect by any means.Anyone who truly knows me, knows the person and the type of officer I am and I know that without a doubt those people would never question my morals or integrity. I was out of law enforcement for approximately 24 months, and state law requires any officer seperated from active duty for 24 months or longer must re-certify. In September 2010 the WV State Police Academy, Govenor's Committee on Crime and the WV Law Enforcement Training Committee unanimously granted re-certifcation (someone with "baggage" would not have been recertified) In the 2008 election I ran as a Write-In candidate honestly for self pride and no other reason there was no "hidden agenda". The two other candidates are great guys, I greatly respect Jerry Turner and think highly of him and quite honestly he would make a fine Sheriff. Mike is a great guy to but to be honest he is in over his head, and I mean no disrespect in any way but this isnt a job you can just step into. Training and experience may save your life, and this is why the Legislature is attempting to pass legislation requiring Sheriff's and Chief's of Police to be certified. Of the three of us I am the most qualified and the only certified, I am the only candidate that is a graduate of the Police Academy. I have approximately 15 years in Security, Investigations and Law Enforcement. Currently I am the lead Investigator with my department working mainly the major felony cases (Armed Robbery, Burglary etc.) and have over a 95% clearance/conviction rate. I am a Republican but I am not endorsed by any of the county Republican committees, I am however endorsed by the WV Deputy Sheriff's Assocation, WV State Fraternal of Police and Local #78 Mountineer Lodge of the FOP. These endorsements mean alot to me because they are that of my peers in the law enforcement community. All I ask is that you make a wise choice with your vote and you elect the right candidate for the right reasons because the Sheriff you elect will determine law enforcement for several years in Doddridge County as well as what direction the Sheriff's Department goes in. I wish all the best to the candidates.(I'm sure when it is time several more will announce thier candidacy) GOD BLESS

Nice try Chuclk H, But we all know your just carsons puppet and one of the I want to be's! You got busted and had to step down and you would not have the respect of your own officers in Doddridge co and was not also one of your fellow officers just busted for drugs under your nose in Shinnston?
You do have to much baggaged and a ego to match it,this leaves only one man left for the job and he does not work in a gas station.FACT ! not my opinion . And most hope you stay where you are we are doing fine with out you!!
