Drunk at 3:30 in the afternoon? She's in big trouble.
I hope everyone will fully recover from the accident. Sounds like a bad one.

Drunk anytime of the day or night while behind the wheel should be big trouble.

Am glad it was injuries only. Last night while at a cook-out I hear one of the other guests talking about the accident and saying that a person was killed. So my mind was wondering who it might be and if from Doddridge since it was right at West Union. Thank goodness it wasn't that bad. Seems like every several months we can look forward to hearing of a major accident there. And will only get worse with all this construction and drilling traffic.

Need better warning system, flashing signs coming up on the intersection, road groves in the pavement to alert, or whatever it takes to get people more alert.

I can assure anyone inquiring, that there was NO fatalities I repeat No fatalities in Fridays accident at Rt 50 and Rt 18. And none of them involved were from Doddridge County. So I hope that helps out the rumor mill in this county.

The news didn't say what she was "influenced" by. Alcohol or drugs. If the driver wasn't from here, seems odd that she'd come here to drink. I was surprised that she got released so quickly considering children were injured in the accident.

Lets put it this way, from what I understand, it wasn't alcohol. And just like any other criminal she was able to post her bond I guess.

My husband and I were driving and came upon the scene seconds after it happened. We had to yell at the people in the car to unlock the doors...we couldn't get to them. We could hear them screaming inside. When the oldest girl opened the door, smoke poured out from the airbag deployments - you could hardly breathe. My husband carried one little girl to safety from the front passenger side because there was another young girl unconscious on top of her. I helped the older girl out and then took the 4 year old boy. In the best situations we would not have moved them, but we had no choice since there was fuel everywhere and a welder lying in the fuel.

My husband immobilized the unconscious girl in the car with his own body, and talked to mom, who was trapped. The girl came around about 5 minutes later. He kept taking her pulse, assuring mom (The driver) she was alive and explaining what happened. After the EMT's were able to take the girl, my husband helped with cutting off the roof of the car so they could get mom out.

I stayed with the other 3 children, keeping them calm and helping the EMT's get them boarded and ready for transport. I will never forget their names and faces. They touched a part of me that I will never forget. They we so incredibly brave.

This is what I know. The driver (mom) in the CAR was not under the influence. It was the driver of the truck that was arrested. The driver of the car was NOT 24 years old. She was much older. They were also not local, they were driving through for the Holiday Weekend. There would be no way the mom would have been released that day given her injuries. The driver of the truck was up and walking around the scene.

I do not live in the area as we were just passing through as well. This incident still weighs heavy on me today. Please, just don't drive under the influence of ANYTHING. This experience was heart breaking. I'm so happy they all survived and are in stable condition.

Dear Good Sam, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. My daughter was the unconscious girl and my friend was the driver along with her 3 beautiful children. To your husband who kept my baby safe and reassuring Angie and to you for taking care of the other children I can honestly say you are angels sent from God and this world is a better place because there are people like you in it. I am happy to say that all are home from the hospital and while they have a lot of recovery to go thru their injuries will heal in time. Like you it is a day our families will never forget. So again sincerely from our families to yours thank you.

wow "Good Sam" thanks for sharing and for helping. The news story at the top of this thread seemed to make it sound like a 24 yr old driver under the influence caused the accident not a truck driver in another vehicle. Makes you wonder how they managed to get the details so wrong to have painted an entirely different picture.

The driver of the pick-up was the 24 y/o. And she is the one that got arrested. We all know how the media is.

Mom of 1...I cannot express how grateful I am for your response. Thank you so much for your kind words. To know that everyone is home and resting is a comforting thought given the past days. I will continue to pray that everyone not only heals physically, but heals in their heart as well.

O, E, and B are also my angels. They touched a part of me that I didn't know existed. They saved me that day in a way as well.

I believe I found Angie on Facebook and sent her a message. She can friend me and I can provide any information you or she may need in the future in regards to testament.

The scene was so chaotic I forgot to leave my business card with an officer.

Sarah--I am A's best friend and first and foremost, words cannot express thanks for all that you and your husband did for A, O, M, E, & B ---all of her family & friends are eternally grateful. "A" hasn't read this blog yet but I told her about it. She didn't get a friend request from you so you must have a different person. Can you send me a FB message (Gabrielle Rahn Hotham) and I will give you her full FB name so she can find you?? Thank you again for everything!!!!!!

Dear Good Sam, I am the Aunt of these wonderful people...Thank you is not enough but thank you. I worked as a Paramedic for years and know how chaotic and horrifying the scene can be for the victims so to have someone there to help and reassure them means alot. Tears are streaming as i write this because when i first got word of the wreck....my thoughts were panic that they were alone and to know someone was there to hold their hand and give them encouragement. I am on facebook please befriend me. Thank you from my family to yours....God Bless you and your husband!
