Hey I am a DCEMS supporter not AA supporter and this is one time that I have to agree with the AA. Protocol is to wait on police. It is that way with such calls, for DCEMS also. I don't blame them for that, they were just doing what was correct. that bar is trouble, I would not want to go in there without police if there had just been a fight. Just saying. I do hope the injured is OK.

Hey thanks for sharing the info about protocol. With scant law enforcement stretched thin throughout the county, I sure hope that there is never a case where someone is in cardiac arrest or been shot during some bar fight. Had no idea the bar is trouble, as you say. Who'd have thought it in Doddridge?

TB just posts items like this in hopes that something will stick. She is the big problem in Doddridge County. Protocol does not allow any EMS service to go before the law in cases like this, and if she is one half as smart as she wants you to think, she should of known it.

By looking at some of the AA crews, I would be afraid that someone in a small bar like that one would have their way with them. But then again, they might like it that way.

I actually heard the call go out to the AA over the scanner. There was a bit of radio difficulties at the beginning of the call, but the other problem was with the dispatcher who didn't even know the name of the bar. Not only that but they were telling them the bar was located in Blandville, which it is, that is was so many miles from Rt 50, and when the AA asked if they turned left or right at the end of Snowbird, they told them left, which was correct, but told them it was a couple miles from there. The bar is less than one mile from the intersection of Snowbird and Rt 18. After they told them all of that, they also told them that they believed the bar was in the old NBC Outlet store, which is the total opposite direction! I will have to agree with EMS Citizen that the AA was right to wait on law enforcement. They also wait for law enforcement on domestic calls and suicide attempts. As for the police coverage in Doddridge County, I have never known there to be an officer out in the county "on duty" after midnight--with any agency. Many rural counties (Ritchie County included) do not have 24 hour coverage. But I do know that Doddridge County has a night call schedule and most nights are covered by the Sheriff's Department but there are couple nights a week that the State Police have night calls. When the sheriff's department has these calls, the officer is in county but when the State Police have them, the officer has to come out of Harrison County. The State Police in West Union are not the ones who take the night calls even though the ones in Ritchie County do there. It just so happened that the night of this incident was a night that the State Police had the coverage for night calls. With that being said, keep in mind there is a state police officer who lives like 5 minutes from the bar, wonder why he wasn't called to respond until the officer got there?
