On that note, I keep getting Absentee Mail-in Ballots sent to me from Jefferson County, CO even though I'm registered to vote IN PERSON in CA...
What's up with that?...
I assure you, I will be monitoring this come election day...

Hussie,

Some of this is intentional voter fraud, some of it is just screwed up records. How long do people get away with out of state car tags (apparently it runs into big money with the fancy trailers/mobile homes)?

Anyone thinking photo ID to vote would solve the problem has never lived in a college town. Might create a new cottage industry, "Instant Voter Photo ID's" for a buck.

Before going for a photo ID, I think I'd rather see a national voter registration (and Mountain Man thinks I'm a liberal?). Hussie moves from Colorado to California, her voter status moves with her. If someone was listed as a fatality in Katrina , then tries to vote in Houston... red flag goes up.

ACLU would have problems with my idea too, but we do need to find a better way to vote.

Simply - unless you notify your previous location where that yyou were registered toou moved and to remove you from their rolls... they still think you live there. Sounds like they were doing their job. Probably after they get a return notice if the forwarded mail was required to do so - will they remove you from the old location.

Bet you never notified them. It works pretty good automatically without notifying anyone within a state, but that all changes going from state to state. It is my belief that states do NOT swap voter info yet. But, that day is coming.

Jefferson County sure knew I'd moved when they wanted money from me for the impounding of a car that I hadn't owned for over 5 years...
And yes, I did notify them of my move...Three years ago...

When did I say you're a liberal? Do you have a link to that post?

I agree with you about a national voter database. However, until that occurs, photo ID would help to eliminate some (key word some) of the voter fraud. If photo ID's didn't help, then liberals would fight so hard against it.
Yes, fake IDs are out there; however, because of major improvements in state ID's, it's significantly harder to make fake ID's. Notice the black strip on the back of your drivers lincese? One swipe of that in a reader, and it immediately shows data on that specific person. Rather hard to duplicate that in mass.

Wow that is amazing, as that very kind of mistake leads to accusations and sometimes the real thing - voter fraud.

My creed is - don't put anyone in a compromising situation, as there is only 50-50 chance they will do what is honest and right.

I would never take advantage of the situation by voting twice...But, I will not tolerate it if a vote is placed for me by someone else, somewhere else...
I will be contacting Jefferson County after the election to ensure that their records are correct, with proof of my "In-person" vote from California...
Believe me, I have no qualms about screaming voter fraud if need be...
Just think "Black Sheep"...

Well there is GREAT truth to the story of legimate voters purged from the Colorado voter polls - I was one and I am a Election Judge !

When I did NOT receive my mail in ballot I first went on the website to verify my voter registration - it was good last week as that is a REQUIREMENT to be an election judge (you must be a registered voter in CO)... so go figure.

I called The Colorado Secretary of State's office and "Jan" looked me up in the country mail- in ballots database and found me. After much prodding I finally coaxed her into going to the web database us voters are forced to use to lookup/change our voter registration information and sure enough I was NOT having just a fleeting moment of brillant and was not found - but just maybe I was having a abused constituent ephiphany !
