Im so tired at the way semi drivers drive. They think they own the roads and cause many horrible accidents

Rock buckets did it again. What will it take to get the state of Texas to slow these trucks down?having traveled 380 on several occaissions I have witnessed rock haulers driving in excess of 70 mph, passing other vehicles in no passing zones, and litterly running anyone and everyone off the road who happens to be in there way. These drivers are paid by the load so they will try and haul as many loads a day that they can.Public safety and courtesy on the road are the last thing they care about.Anyone unfortunate enough to have travel 380 can tell you how many times these drivers will ride less than 10 feet off your bumper driving at 70-80 mph between Bridgeport and Denton

Well I guess I am in a minority here. I ride 380 all the time and I know better than get near a rock truck. The are loaded down and cannot stop on a dime like a car. AND MUDDOG...YOU ARE speeding if you are going 70 or 80 down 380 and need to slow down. Take a look at numbers and you will see the number of accidents versus the number of miles driven is VERY low for truck drivers. Who else drives a million miles with no accidents? There are bad apples in every industy but to say all truck drivers are bad drivers show ignorance. I have seen car drivers do stupid stupid stuff when around big trucks. They crawl up rear, not realizing big trucks cannot see them. My personal favorite is people like Muddog who hauls butt at 80 miles a hour then slams on the brakes in front of a big truck and expects it to stop like a car. All I can say is use your brains and stay clear of objects bigger than yourself.

The man in the car lost his life yesterday. He was a very dear friend of our family. He left behind a wife and 4 children. He was a joyful person and was full of life. We will miss him dearly.
I hate to think he is the second one of my friends to die from a rock hauler.
God bless you Hector, we will miss you forever.

The speed limit on most of 380 IS 70 MPH!!! Muddog stated the TRUCKS are driving in excess of that speed tailgating the cars. I drive that road regularly and have been involved with trucks all of my life. Many of the drivers of rock haulers should NOT be allowed on the road at all much less in a large dangerous vehicle.

there is a huge difference between truck drivers and rock haulers. truck drivers are professionals - at least the majority of them. rock haulers need more rules/restrictions

ok, all you can ask for is more police presence on that stretch of road. Have you noticed the explosion of growth and businesses in Frisco and Mckinney? Where do you expect that to go? North from Frisco and West from Mckinney. Now where is that??? Can you say 380? yes, 380 is about to become 121. Remember when Stonebriar was built? It was the only thing on 121. Now look. 380 is about to do the same thing. There will be a new city built and named between Mckinney and Denton, just wait and see.

These Trucks have no choice but to be there. Growth and business development had put them there and it will not end anytime soon.

My condolences to Hectors family.
The man in the rock hauler is my uncle and he is a good man. The wreck wasn't his fault and if you look at the last picture you can see that he swerved off the road to avoid the accident, look at the skid marks in the grass. The man in the car had a heart attack, it wasn't my uncles fault. Not all 18 wheelers are bad. I lost a friend this same way but it wasn't the 18 wheelers fault it was his cause he fell asleep behind the wheel and his vehicle hit the 18 wheeler. You cant just blame the 18 wheeler just because they are bigger get the facts straight before you start talking trash. I agree with NOOLIE don't drive so close behind the big trucks or stomp on your breaks infront of them cause you are just asking to get hurt and hit.

I'm Hector's Daughter, the man that died in this car accident. Steph, where are you getting your facts from? cause not even us know what happenned. You wrote your comments like you are the one that examined my Dad, and was there with him when all of this happenned. Do not write anything that you don't know. We do not know whose fault it was. That's why there's an investigation. I just want my Family to be okay.
Everyone else, thank you for your support, my family appreciates it very much.

It is important to put a face and a family with this story. It is not just about one more accident on 380.
I attended Hector's Memorial Service today. This man had a loving family, a wife, and two children that serve in the military; he was a happy family man. Hector’s Family and Friends will miss him. He had much to live for speculation now will only serve to hurt everyone involved.
Before this accident is forgotten by all but the families involved I asked myself what can we do to help prevent more accidents on 380. I will write my local representative and the county commissioner to ask that they look into the traffic on 380 and the commercial vehicles. I drive that road and I feel the traffic is not managed in a safe manner
We do not need another accident like Hector's if anyone else knows of how best we can make our views known please let me know.

I just want to let you know i know what you are going through cause i just lost my step dad on Jan 24, 2008 due to a massive heart attack. Don't get me wrong,I am not trying to hurt you but i want every one else to understand that just because my uncle drives a rock hauler it doesn't make him a bad person. This wreck could have happened to anyone it just happened to be to my uncle in his work truck. Like i said before I had a friend die in a wreck similar to this but it was his fault not the 18 wheelers. It is hard when you lose a loved one and I hope your family is doing ok. My condolenses to you and your family
