The Denton county appraisal district has done several cheating appraisals for us. Three times, now in 30 years, they ahve accidently left off one of the garages on our property the year following a protest where they lowered our appraisal by a few thousand dollars. Then the next year-oops, one of the buildings was NEVER on the appraisal (again) and they double the apprasal. This ahs happened 3 times since we have lived here. This is a method of cheating the taxpayer while ignoring Texas law they can not raise the value of our home more thatn 10% in one year or the last appraisal,(which strangely enough they claim to have been in 2003.) Again I will ahve to go down, this is yearly, and show them they are in error. I can not understand why they are allowed to do this every year.

That's living in Texas for ya...they do whatever they want there just like they do at Denton County. Good luck because nothing will happen. Denton County is all about $$$$ and it dont matter how they get it. They will even make money for filing fees to fight it. Denton County is corrupt. It is the worst county in Texas to live or work in due to the continuous corruption.

If these offices constantly raises your property appraisals by 20,000 a year and we are in a recession why won't the Government of the United States take action against this kind of corruption? All they have to do is look at all the counties and compare them. Just shows us about government and how it works I guess!

SINCE WE ARE A CLIENT STATE OF ISRAEL and must occupy Iraq ........... the counties are raising money by milking the homeowners to pay for services via exagerated home values ........ what is the true cost of supporting zionism and destabilizing the mid-east and raising our fuel costs .

I called them and asked how my neighbors appraisal could be 63 thousand dollars less than mine. My neighbor had came in, and lied about the condition of her property. When I told the appraiser about this, all he could say was, we don't have the people to do investigations, and people lie all the time. Denton County Appraisal District is the sorriest, lowest bunch of hacks I've ever had to deal with. They are a bunch of ignorant dumb asses, that need to be fired. Talk about a Hitler mentality!

I have the same problem. Every year I have to go and fight my house property tax. It is stupid. The software they use seem to have bugs in it. It does not take in to consideration of external factors. It does not even consider other houses on your street. I will be happy to sell my house in the value they say, but I can't because nobody will buy it. It is simple is that. One house goes down in value, one goes up on same street. How that works?

They are pretty much able to do whatever they want in most of these CAD'S because there is no one being allowed to get on these boards that has the backbone to fight it out with them. If you are having to go to dispute your taxes every year then it is my opinion that you are on one of the CAD'S black list. When they allowed these things to be formed they took your opinion out of the process. For instance in Newton County Texas property values are going through the roof yet there is no economy and no justification for the increases. These people do what they want and the tax payor suffers for it. These people and the volunteer fire cheif's should both be elected positions to prevent this kind of abuse. Appraisals are mostly opinions or prices built upon fluke property sales. These people are the reason you are seeing more and more deserted houses and rundown properties. 911 addressing has also contributed to house desertions. Another state in our union will be voting on the permenant elimination of property taxes this year for similiar reasons. These people are supposed to be professionals but at what. As to what their profession is I would hazard it to be stealing. They also practice law without a license since they seem to be making loose interpretations of the law and how it applies to them. The tax payers only hope is to elect someone to the state legislature who has been attacked by these people. And they can say all they want that they are not attacking or singling out certain taxpayers, I am here to tell you that they have even went so far as to try to evict me from my own property, just because I do not adhere to their rules. My privacy is protected by the US constitution and they have no legitamate right to tell me that I do not live where I say that I do. I will not mince words the appraisal system in this Whole State is a little crooked, but it is really crooked in some counties. Newton County is crooked through and through with only a few exceptions. Jasper County seems to be more honest than any county in my area. And that is why they are doing better financially.

The old system might have been one sided according to certain people but it at least put the people in charge and not somebody who doesn't seem to answer to nobody just because they belong to a good ole boy's club. The same thing has happened to our law enforcement, you have to belong to the law enforcement guild in order to participate in law enforcement. I admit that the old system had some problems, but these clubs are not the answer. They need to go back to the old system of making the people accountable to the citizens. If they are doing the right thing then there should not be any complaints. The new system that you have imposed on the citizens is destroying the economy by not being accurate and making appraisals based on heresay purchases, or fluke sales. There are still a few people who have more money than they have common sense, and there are a few fools out here also who overpay for property. There is only one fair way to do property taxes and thats to base taxes on the purchase price and not some opinion. It would reward those citizens who stick it out with their county.

I live in Tyler county and the same thing goes here. Everybody at the appraisal district gives their friends and family all kinds of breaks. We purchased our home in 2012 and taxes were shown for a 1500 Sq ft home at $1000 for the past 20 years. Then all of a sudden after I purchased the home in 2013 the taxes doubled and all of a sudden the correct Sq ft of 2900 was teported. But just remember its been 2900 Sq ft for 20 years but the prior owners had been paying property taxes for a 1500 Sq ft home that was actually 2900. Went to the appraisal district and everybody there were acting like a bunch of illiterate jackasses. Couldn't do nothing but shrug their shoulders.
