You say this as though it was premeditated by the lab. Here are your facts.

1. Kid fell on the dog's owner (another kid)
2. Dog protected his family
3. Dog didn't pierce any skin
4. Owners of the dog are willing to let the dog live on a farm out of town.
5. The *victims* family have spoken out AGAINST killing the dog.

Of course you would have shot it. You're white trash from Dent County. That's the answer to anything in Salem. "Shoot it". I guess that works two ways. If you shot my dog, well then I guess I'd have no choice but to pay you and your family some retribution as well. Family is family to me, human or non human.

The dog was probably startled and reacted in self defence. How serious was the bite ? A nip. If you were sleeping and someone jumped on you would you not act in self defence? Quit making a mountain out of a mole hill. Humans doa thousand times worse things to children and they just get life in prison. I bet the dog had remorse when he realised what happened, unlike the human predator.

It was on the property of the owner of the dog....so it was at it's own home.

What color was the dog? I'll bet it was white and bit a black person. That explains why it's in so much trouble.

How did the City of Salem even know about it if it was only a nip. If there was no injury the city should have never even gotten involved, someone had to tell them.

No, the dog was not current on it's shots but it HAD had them and a vet (former county commissioner, btw) examined he dog and proclaimed it healthy and friendly and NOT vicious. A dog would normally be held 10 days to check for rabies if not up to date on shots and this dog has been held for nearly a year thus proving that it did not have rabies. So, the shots thing does not matter. It should receive new shots though but the city has prohibited ANY vet care for the dog in the past year or so. Still, it's healthy, friendly and everyone who has ever been around the dog says so. I think the child's parents did take the child to the hospital just so that there was a record of the bite and to be certain that the dog was either up to date on it's shots or was held the 10 days required. The hospital had to notify the city due to law. No law required the dog be put down, given no one can prove previous bites. I have no clue why the judge ruled as he did. It makes no sense to me and should be vacated and the dog allowed to move to the farm.

Lol! The dog didn't have shots! They couldn't provide shot records! This Little girl has 2 more months to see of she s going to get rabies!! So what life is more important, the dog that is "soooo sweet" that bites or a little girl that is NOT out of the clear yet!?!? Seriously people??? So YES IT DOES matter when it comes to vaccinating a dog especially when you live in town!!! The truth must really burn people's asses! I guarantee that had the dog owners child got bitten they would have wanted to know about vaccines also!!! This town is so full of bs'ers that they forget what the definition of the word TRUTH actually is!! And all the people just jumping on the "DOG" bandwagon you people are idiots! Think about it if it were YOUR child.

If the dog had had rabies we'd have known it by now, it's been over 9 months! If you think rabies can show up 11 months after a bite you're wrong. States only impound for 10 days because it always shows up by then. Also, if the dog had rabies the child would have long ago had her series of shots. I guess you don't know much about rabies.

I'm guessing your not a vet BECAUSE rabies can lie dormant in a HUMAN for UP TO a year! AND she was NOT givin the shots BECAUSE had she had gotten them and she didn't have rabies she would have been dead due to the shots!! So logically the dog SHOULD have been put down in the beginning IF YOU WANNA get technical! But obviously you don't have kids to defend a biting dog! Unless of course you own this oh so "sweet" dog! Salem should be ashamed of itself!

You're nuts. Vets and people who go into caves as a hobby are given the shots all the time. Check wwww.cdc.gov \rabies as that will tell you that you are wrong but you probably won't trust the CDC.

Oh and if they'd killed the dog to start with they would cut off it's head and sent it to the state to find out if it had rabies, but waiting 10 days shows the same thing. You really could use an education.

Lol!! I'm nuts and your defending a dog that bites? Who's nuts? Regardless of whatever you may think is true the dog should have been vaccinated to begin with and none of this Would have happened. And yes I know all about the cutting off of a dogs head. What's gonna happen when this dog bites again? Are you all gonna call the animal activist again? The dog bit a child it needs to be put down! If it were my dog it would been dead months ago for the sake of the child! And I would have offered to pay any medical expenses! I guess food stamps can't pay medical expenses! Dang it.. Lol too-da-loo I have a J-O-B to attend to, you have a great day! I have said my peace!:)

I'm retired due to age. I worked all my life and paid my taxes so you can stop with the welfare jibes, they do not apply here.

If the dog bit for a reason, what is called a provoked attack, then the dog gets another chance. You cannot expect an animal of any type not to reflexively defend both itself and it's children (human type too).

BTW, I'm an animal activist and I live in Dent County. Yep, WE'RE HERE! Deal with it.

Why start crap, The dog would have been found to have rabies in the 10 day period. The dog was obviously startled and nipped the child. You would react to being startled yourself. the dog probably felt remorse for what happened. You on the other hand are probably one of those people who takes their dog out to a field and abandons, leaves it in the cold and starving when you get tired of it. I have about 4 of these dogs out here on my farm and I feed them. They don't come by anyone because they were abused by someone that is quick to dump them and not care what happens to them. A dog has feelings and they are very loyal pets, If someone treats them in a reasonable manner. Cats also.

You're an uneducated moron. It's extremely simple to see that you are young and immature, based on how you speak (even on an online forum). You're letting your love of kids cloud your common sense. That's noble on the surface, but it definitely doesn't lead to doing the right thing.

I have said my peace
