Children living in troubled home

A sad story out of Smithville today. WJLE reported that several children were found in two separate homes living in unsanitary conditions.

There is a lot that we as citizens of dekalb county can do to combat the crimes such as this. this is a shame and should never have been allowed to happen but the more serious problem at hand is that the police departments hands are tied up with politics. I think that this upcoming election will be a signifigant turning point for the betterment of our city if the city votes in new aldermen that are PRO-Police instead of what we have now which is aldermen that want to control the police, Have the Power, and let their children sue the city for money then you will see a signifigant turnover for the better of the city which will be better able and equiped to prevent things like this from happening again.

i know that im from ky and the laws maybe different. but do you not have social workers. that way you dont half to go threw law inforcement. if any more information is needed on this i will be happy to help.. just let me knkkow whats needed and i will see what i can do .

I can tell you one thing. That if anyone kin to the family that is having the unsanitary conditions knows anyone in the justice system or any of the social workers. I can pretty well tell you that their wont be anything done for the problem. I am proof of that, cause my ex is not even legal & our judge gave him my daughter & the social services has been called & nothing has been done to him yet. I believe that for 1 thing that his lawyer used to work DCS. I feel that is the reason why nothing has been done to him.

Smithville Tennessee at it's finest. All is true, I lived there for several years. A few people control the town. It is a piece of shit place, where corruption is expected. Hell, people go to court there for selling pounds of cocain and get sentenced to 5 years parol. Listen to the local news radio, it is not only shocking but a joke on the justice system there.

very true heck they get off with a slap on the wrist and my husband had a traffic violation and fta and was treated like a freakin murder its all in who u know and how much money u can spend!!!!!!!!!!
