The executive director of the DeKalb County Tourist Association, John Dersham, was a bit disappointed the new license plate design focused on the beaches of south Alabama and ignored the mountains in the north.

the last line of the story tells the WHOLE story. Maybe that's why the beaches rather than mountains were depicted on the new plates..."Baldwin and Mobile counties combine to generate more than 30 percent of the state's $9.8 billion tourism revenue."
Next time there's a plate change, maybe it can be the mountains.

Honestly, when I think of Alabama, I don't think of either beaches or mountains, I think of football. Maybe it should have been some football scene?
