Jailed Davidson Co. Man Faces More Sex Charges - WGHP

Additional sex charges were filed against a Davidson County man who is already in jail waiting trial on sexual charges involving a child.

The child(ren)this man assaulted in 2001 may have come forward sooner if they had felt secure that the legal system would actually get him off the street. Instead, he has continued to harm children until recently. People knew what he was doing and just turned the other cheek, shame on you.

I agree!!! Most often children don't come forward because they fear the offender and what he/she may do to them or other family. If the offender does not get serious time the child at some point will come in contact with the offender again. Unfortunately with most cases in North Carolina the offender is charged with indecent liberties (just to get them registered) and they are back out on the street in a matter of hours. Meanwhile the children may be punished by another family member who doesn’t believe them.
Or be place in foster care. And to some children that may seem like prison, no comfort from other non-offender family.
I personally know of many cases were people committed heinous sex crimes against children and only got minimal sentences and some never convicted at all.
Children become victims of the system because cases Such as the book author who killed his wife were more high profile. It was election year and the offender was allowed to plead down to distributing to the delinquency of a minor. Only to go and repeat his offence on another child. What a great indecency our system does to these children.
Children learn from what they see and hear and what the judicial system teaches them is this: If you tell you will have to come face to face with this person in court and you will have to tell in front of the entire court room what happened. If they are convicted with a felony it will only be minimal time if any time at all. That the Sex registry if they make the list) will not make sure that they know where these pedophiles are at all times. Nor will they charge the absconders because the jails and prisons are over crowded with more serious crimes.(Their opinion …not mine). That the rights of the offender are more precious to them than that of a child. If you wait until you feel a little more secure as an adult. No matter what evidence you have you will have to undergo a lie detector test and the offender…all they have to do is claim medical reasons not to take it…so what’s the point. That’s what the victims are taught …that’s why they keep quite.

well from experience it is true children are the ones that are punished!this man had a friend he worked for and did the same thing to my daughter or maybe worse and got out with nothing but some probation did not even register as a sex offender. i guess thats why they where such good friends the preverts had something in common!!! i hope he rots and so will his friend one day!!!!!!!!

I worked with this guy in High Point, he always talk about how much fun it is going to S.C and racing and giving out candy to the kids there. He is scum and deserves LIFE!

I have no doubt That Herb did not commit these charges. The children's father that i know of is a creep, and a cheat and had to have framed him.
