Pray for the riders..and also please help them in their recovery and to deal with the loss of their horses. To be a horse owner myself their first thoughts will be for each other then their beloved friend that carried them. May they all find comfort within themself with Gods help.

I really hope someone is charged with child abuse! Children learn what they are taught, it is alright to ride a horse with no reflective clothing in the dark in the middle of the road. Instead of school this week the child has to recover in the hospital because of an irresponsible adult.

Too many people think they are tougher than cars. I've met bicycles that thought they owned the road and I was tresspasing. AND THESE ARE ADULTS!!!

I am sorry that they were in the road but as a horse Owner/rider. I also know that sometimes even the best horse's spook. So unless you know why they were in the road keep your mouth shut about the parent. I think that all kids should have the chance to be around animals and be outdoors doing anything other than playing video games that reflect drugs and killing.Or doing drugs themselve's. So next time you go to say something about what another person teach's there child, Look and see what you are teaching your's! And regaurdless of clothing if you cant see a Horse in the road do you really need a driver's license??

Its a shame a child gets injured because of the stupitidy of an adult . Not the driver of the pickup ,the idiot that had them out rideing on a state road after dark .

First off i didnt want to respond to this but i feel now i need to. They were crossing the road at their house, to go home. And it wasn't so dark that someone that has paying attention wouldn't have seen them. Instead of insulting them, pray for them. Thats what they need. If this was one of your family members you would not like to see that people in your community talked that way about them, someone that is fighting for their life.. I thought people in the triad community cared a little bit more about each other than this.

people need to stop and think before they put people down about stuff.they probably went out before dark and thought they would be back in time and wasnt thinking about reflecters.as for the little boy kids have to enjoy life too.no one is safe in the world.u can not keep them locked in the house 24/7. that could have happened to anyone.i know the people and they were crossing the street to get back home.does anyone know how fast the driver was going over that hill?so people needs to ask those questions before they put people down.

I was there and it wasn't a good site. The people fly down that road. They were heading home and it wasn't that dark when this happen. You could see the horses good enough. Don't judge unless you were there like I was. I seen it all and the driver was flying over the hill and hit them. So you people need to get the whole story before you post on here.

We seen them riding yesterday at the Walmart in T-ville. I hope they have a full recovery. I am also glad that the video of the lifeless horse laying there has been removed. That was very disturbing....I think that was a bad choice to show the horse. Their are many other things you could show at an accident.

We have lived in this area for over 10 yrs and have owned horses for that amount of time, We ride horseback and wagon ride in the same vicinity, Alot of people driving in this area do not what so ever slow down to pass us, they think it is funny to how close they can drive by us, and we do many of times ride with kids. Someone very close to me has came close to being hit and we were 4 feet or so out of the road. We get motors revved up at us, yelling at us and have had cans thrown at our horses. But to the family and friends of the 2 hurt, I wish them a speedy recovery and I am truly sorry for the loss of their horses. And to all that do show respect to horses and riders, Thank You

I dont think this post is mean at all! There are some really STUPID adults out there. Riding horses at night, no reflective gear on, and kids carrying guns. And people wonder whats wrong with the world! Dumb people on here that say, "Oh what a TRAGEDY," These are the people that does stupid stuff that dont think of the consequences of their actions. Do you people know what consequences are? Start Thinking! Yes that thing between your ears, head, BRAIN, its not there just for looks you know! Now, 2 beautiful animals are gone because someones stupidity!

It was totally dark and I have seen those riders on that same road in the middle of the night riding horses and you could barely see them, the driver could not have been doing more than 45 mph,he was not flying. On the side of a busy road is not a good place to ride horses.I just hope the little fellow riding will be alright as well as the other rider.

So sad for all involved. I wish everyone a speedy recovery.

As a fellow horse owner I can attest that drivers are often very discourteous to equestrians. While this accident may have been preventable, let's not judge. This was a tragedy for all involved.
