The problem with this is that she is being charge for boarding but, when all is said and done, the law is still the law! As sad as that may sound! Kitty Hawk is in the wrong for getting the dogs taken away from her and they will most likely have to pay this fine for boarding when the dogs are returned to her after the court hearing! There is nothing on the books that states she can not have her dogs back! Some animals kills the sick! We see it happen all the time! But, seriously, this is all a big waste of time! North Carolina laws will allow her her dogs back and the tax payers are going to be the ones to pay! Be thankful if you don't live here!
The law needs to change. Peoples pets are part of their family and when a vicious dog kills someone's pet, that's just a heartbeat away from killing someone's child.

The owners of the murdered dog are far better people than I am. I'm afraid if it was my labrador that had been killed, I'd have killed those vicious dogs myself. Especially in light of the ludicrous laws that tie the hands of those who are supposed to protect the public.

What are we waiting for? The dogs have to kill a human before we take this seriously?

I understand the laws are preventing from the government handling the situation but this is where I find greatest fault with the pit bull owner. She continues to make bad decisions and not do the right thing. If she had any conscience at all she would surrender the dogs for euthanasia, but she is choosing to make her poor decisions a burden on the people of Dare county.

I may be wrong, but those dogs are considered to be a nuisance. The town does have authority to remove nuisance animals. Besides, if I was a town authority, I would be just as worried about community vigilante justice. I'm sure there are plenty of folks around here that would gladly take care of the problem, and that would create more problems for the Kitty Hawk PD.

You could be right though. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Has the girl gotten evicted yet?

Ok so lets see your point! "if she had any conscience at all she would surrender the dogs for euthanasia," OK so lets say your child killed an animal, would you be expected to surrender your child for euthanasia? I think not! So why should she have to surrender what appears to be her children? Would we be having this conversation if it were a child that did this? How about all the child molestors in Kitty Hawk starting with the one that is a brother to someone that works for the town? Should he be put to death? How about his family members who defended him? Should we go to his mothers house and call her names? I mean death for them little kids he messed with would have been far better than what they and their parents have to live with! Lets be for real here! It's not up to us to judge if these dogs are her life or just animals! We are not her we can not assume anything! If you want the laws changed than you will have to go to your congressmen! Hey why don't you write your president LOL He will help you! hahahahhaha

You're way, WAY off base!

A rose is a rose is a rose.

And....

A vicious dog is a vicious dog is a vicious dog. You can't equate a dog killing someone's pet dog with a child killing an animal, be it a lizard, cat, dog, etc. If a child killed someone's dog, we might expect the parent to get psychological help for the child, but that depends on WHY the child killed the animal.

And I think to change the law here, we don't have to petition Obama or our congressmen. Just our county and town officials who we elected and are in charge of our local laws.

And for you to make comparisons with child molesters is also WAY off base. Stick with the forum subject and stop being so stupid.

Oh ya your right! We should all just use the word "STUPID" as you have! Yep that will make things so much better! I am entitled to my opinion just as you are!

What I put out there was a comparasion! If you feel that is stupid than you should read some of your other posts! I do believe you compared as well!

This case is not cut and dry as you would like for it to be!

Do you even know the people whos dog was killed? I will assume you do not or you would know that their dog was one of there family as are the two pit bulls in question! That being said, they do understand how hard it would be if the roles were reversed! Take a look outside the box! Don't be as you put it so "Stupid"!!!! And grow up and learn to use other words instead of calling people "STUPID"!!!!!!!

You people defending your pit bulls are NUTS!

No throwing blood on fur coats would be something a non educated pit bull hater would do!

NEWS FLASH!!!!
The dog is dead and the other two are at the SPCA! Two families lost here! There's not much we can do to bring back the dog that is dead but, you can stop trashing people and dog breeds on here and write your congressman! Stop wasting your breath here and put it to some good use elsewhere like in a letter to your congressmen!

the community will win when the two dogs are put to sleep and the owner is found liable for their actions

it's not going to happen! The owner will be found liable for the dogs actions but, just like in the Michael Vick case, the judge will order that the dogs be reabilitated! They did not kill a human! What if what if what if it still doesn't change the fact that a human did not get attacked and has not by these two dogs!
