I am really sad that people are so cruel to animals kids and old people. I live in berea and can not believe that our neighbors are turning into violent people. these people should be punished to the fullest exstent. Also Ithink the barns at BEREA and other barns should be checked out once a month and to ask questions to all horse owners so this does not happen again. I applaud the person who had the guts to speak up for these helpless horses. Hopefully there will be more people to do the same as this person did. The people who did this crime should get jail time also pay abig fine and do commmunity service and wear a sign saying I killed a horse.

Although I did not see the entire video showing people whipping this horse, what I did see did not appear to be violent. For those who do not know, when a horse colic's, the most important thing to do is to keep them moving. Perhaps the people involved were simply not able to keep him moving by hand-walking and had to resort to these desperate measures. It's not like they were speeding down the road dragging him behind. It looks to me like they were trying an "experiment" (for lack of a better word) to keep him moving. A sick horse is a tough thing to deal with because they are so large and impossible to move if they are not willing to do it on their own. My daughter has a horse who coliced and she spent over 2 hours hand-walking her under the supervision and treatment of a vet before the decision was finally made to transport her to an emergency facility. If they said trotting her behind a vehicle might help her out, we probably would have tried it. Whatever the case, I do feel bad for the horse as well as the owner. Sorry for your loss!
