CORRECTION.... I said, "Jared Baldwin" it should have been "Jared Jenkins" the Baldwin Family, well, they are a different story! Either way, both the Baldwin and Jenkins families that follow Charles like lost sheep are sad stories of corruption and evil that help in covering his crimes and helped build the foundation of the a Cult.

Thank you "310 year gift to Culpeper" for telling it like it really was. These people who worship Shifflett need to know what kind of person he was behind their backs. He is a selfish brute that did everything he did for his on benefit. Well Lorretta, what do you have to say now? I am so glad that the real Shifflett is being uncovered. He's already admitted to being a child abuser, a thief, a liar, etc. What ever time he gets in prison will not be enough unless it's life without parole.

I have read with great interest the comments of the posters especially #21. I believe that you know what you're talking about since you go into great detail about the situation. Where were all the adults during this time? Did the kids tell anyone what was going on? Did the adults witness any of this abuse and if so, why didn't they do anything? The ones you named, are they still around today and are they still with Shifflett at his new church? I am so sorry for what you all must have endured at the hands of this animal. Maybe you should write a letter to the Assistant DA detailing what you went through and what you witnessed to be read during Shifflett's sentencing on Oct. 8th. This might help put him away for a long time. Where were the parents of all these children? If all the children who are now adults spoke up, you might keep him from getting just another slap on the wrist and tormenting some other children in the future.

I am not poster #21, but I can answer a few of your questions. I never experienced any abuse or mistreatment from Shifflett, but I think to those it did happen to it happened during the school hours. I'm sure some of it took place outside of school, but I remember numerous occassions when the high school guys were taken out of school to go "work" and I am sure a majority of it happened then when there were no parents around. Yes, I know that some of the kids tried to tell things that were going on but the sad truth is that no one believed them. Most (if not all) of the children mistreated were children whose parents Shifflett knew he "had". He knew that the parents would take up for him no matter what. I think this is how he chose who his victims would be. People like Loretta who STILL back him up. The people who were mentioned in #21's post do go to Shifflett's new church. Along with many others (from Calvary) who have been misled for many years. I find it so sad that people continue to follow and support this man. I also think that part of the problem with people still continuing to follow Shifflett is that some of those people were led to the Lord by Shifflett or through his ministry and they don't know any better. I grew up at Calvary and I myself didn't know that church was suppossed to be different than that until I went to a church that was run COMPLETELY different than Calvary. I believe those people who were newly saved were fooled by Shifflett because they had never been in church and didn't know that things should have been different and they just believed what he said was the truth because he was the "Preacher". I hope that this makes sense. Please don't think that I am giving an excuse for those people, because I'm not! Sometimes I just try to think WHY people still follow him and it's the only think that I've been able to come up with. I guess the thing that I console myself with is even if he doesn't get what he deserves on this earth - he WILL have to answer to God one day. I know that is hard to hear sometimes because so many people want him to suffer as badly as he made others suffer, but the punishment he will get when he gets to Heaven will be much greater than any punishment he will get here on earth!

Thanks #24 for the information. I figured as much. Predators know how to pick their prey, that's how they can carry on for so long without being detected. I want to see what the justice system does to this man since he's admitted his crimes. Community service for child abuse was a slap in the face. Now they have an opportunity to give the kids some closure by throwing the book at him now. I hope he gets 25 to life! It appears that you have been back to Calvary in recent months; How is the new Pastor and the people that still attend doing now? They must be some dedicated people to try and continue after what Shifflett did to them. Does Shifflett still have people following him and it he STILL..........pastoring a Church? His followers must be have some serious problems to want to follow a man like Shifflett.

I guess people are losing interest in this case after the first few weeks. I've heard all sorts of comments. As people lose interest, just remember the young people who have been robbed of their child hoods and who will carry the scares of this man for the rest of their lives. What about the young man who was raped by Shifflett on several different occasions. Somehow, I don't think this was an isolated case. He will never be able to forget. The state talks about closure.....How can the young people get closure for what they've been through and continue to live with every day of their lives? If Shifflett got life in prison (which he won't) it still would not be enough just for his abuse of that one young man!
You people in Culpeper, don't lose interest in this case. Demand a suitable sentence for this monster!

so I am just reading all these messages...So as far as Shifflett is concerned he is worthless and his day and everyone else's day will come (those who defended him) when all this came out my brother wanted me to lie and say shifflett did stuff to me Nope I refused however what he did do to me was enough to change my religious views and he is the reason I dont go to church and dont send my children..I remember the countless times my Mom would beat me slap me across my face ram my head into the vehicle window how I had to go into school crying and everyone staring at me all because I said over and over and over how he was a fake and how he was hateful and how I knew he didn't like me how I was never aloud to have friends when I had a friend I always seemed to loose that friend how I was not aloud to wear certain shoes/boots they looked to much like mens boots or my sweater or blouse was to tight....o I will never forget the hurt I felt when I told my Mom that he was staring at my breast and I felt uncomfortable and she called me a liar
Shifflett unfortunately is who I called my Preacher and will always be the one from my past So sad how we as children suffered some a great deal more than others. forget Shifflett and every one of his followers..took that bastard being harmful/ hateful to my 2 nephews before my Mom opened her eyes by then I was long gone and the damages done
