I'm Justin Fitzpatrick's Grandmother. The Sapulpa football player killed in a car accident on September 2, just 7 weeks ago. To the family of this sweet and precious girl, I am so very sorry for your loss. I do know what you are going through and will be thinking about and praying for you. There is nothing more painful than the loss of a child or grandchild. May God comfort and keep you!!
I cannot believe the cruel and hateful things others are posting. You don't know the facts, and who made you the judge and jury!!?? These people need nothing but love and support from eveyone. How can you even think of saying these awful things to those that are in unbearable agony anyway? SHAME ON YOU!!! You should be down on your knees praying that it won't be your kid someday!!! My grandson was wearing a seatbelt and was still killed instantly, and NO cell phone involved either. This was an accident, that is why it is called an accident!!!!!

i don't care what rural area's people live in and the laws are different for younger drivers but they need to change the laws permit to drive with lic driver during the day only and get your lic when you are 18 maybe we could stop hearing about dead teenagers every other day. im sorry im sure alot of you will disagree with me but these are kids that's right they don't listen!! no matter what you say is that an adult talking no it is a child that you are putting behind a machine and saying here go out with your friends then they are on their cell phones texting not watching what they are doing not paying attention. im sorry but this was brought on by themselfs, maybe if they acted a little more mature they would be home today instead one dead and 2 left in hopsital, im very sorry for the families loss this is very very hard but loosing a child is something no one can tell you they know what you are feeling because they don't unless they lost a child. please do not take this the wrong way help change laws stop letting our children die so young they are not old enough to drive until they become 18 young adults. give them a chance to grow up. kids are growing up to fast today.of yes you will hear well times are different when you were growing up yes we had bikes skates house parties a little safer but not always but we were acting our age. todays 13 and 14 year olds look like 20 yr old young women and the boys just want to be thug like it is ashame.

I beg of everyone, please don't forget the Blair family (the driver of the truck)!!! He knew Hannah's family and while he was not severely injured in the crash, he is in critical emotional condition, just like the other families! Please lift him up in your prayers as well. He is having a hard time making himself believe that he could not have done more to prevent this or help them afterward. Everyone but him knows he was simply at the wrong intersection at the wrong time, but he hasn't been able to process that yet. Please remember him when you pray!!!

I think this is why parents need to be a little more strict on whom their child rides with and instruct them to ALWAYS wear their seatbelt in any vehicle! If the parents would have had taken the time to know where their kids were and whom they were riding with...they may still be alive today.
We as parents need to make some rules for our precious children and even though it makes them mad, they will thank us when they are older.

Three of four teenagers are involved in an accident or get a moving violation during the first year they have a driver license. Odds were agaisnt the girl when she got under the wheel, and three more teenage passengers didn't make the odds any better.

Nevertheless, they never think it can happen to them.

with all the rules accidents still happen.we need to remember the families and the losses they are going thru. and not put blame on anyone.

Joe B makes more sense than all the rest put together. If you don't have a solution, don't whine. Joe-if you hear of any community efforts to get people of their dead b***s and out clearing the intersections, please let me know. I'll be there.

Let me clarify my comment, the other teens by Oklahoma law must be a sibling or only one other teen allowed. This law keeps this from happening. I feel for the families but as a mom I do not allow my children in a car with a teen driver for this reason. Not worth the risk.

While it is good that they have passed a law, it is going to be very difficult to enforce. The best prevention here is for parents to talk to their kids and use this sad situation as an example of what can happen if the driver was indeed on the phone. People, especially teens, never think something like this will happen to them.

Isn't it illegal to have this amount of teens in the car unless they are relatives? Maybe that is why we have the law to protect the kids.
One of the other passengers was a sister of the driver

Agree with you totally. On SandSpringsLeader.com it says they were on phone, texting, just missed the stop sign.
Didn't say she "missed the stop sign", said she "failed to yield from stop sign". Means the driver stopped for stop sign and then proceeded to drive into intersection which was not clear, a truck was there.

Prayers to all of the families involved. But know this..through your darkest hour, Gods grace is always sufficent..it encompasses all things. I speak from experience, for I have walked this path myself.

I wasn't pointing fingers OR trying to blame someone....just saying this could be a hard, yet good lesson for many parents out there. Be a little more strict with whom your child rides with, and set some rules about cell phones and texting. Your child will thank you as they mature!

Mom, in Oklahoma a 16 year old who has had an intermediate license for 6 months is not restricted to number of passengers. If a driver does not go the intermediate route they must then be 18 to be unrestricted as to passengers. Most kids here get the intermediate license at 15/1/2 years old so that at 16 they don't have passenger restrictions. But they are still subject to curfew at night until they are 18. This accident happened in the afternoon.

I misspoke earlier. It is one of four 16 years olds who are involved in an accident or get a moving violation during their first year of driving.

Wish it was that easy Kari, so many teens think they are invincible, and won't accept sound judgment. Then the learning process can be very costly.
