Rob Smith has a different problem. The Crawford County business owner has openings for 15 qualified machinists he can't find.

What isn't getting any better, she said, is the number of people who are unable to land jobs because they can't pass drug tests.
"It's a big problem," Bishop said.
"Every one of the employers I talk to say they can't get people to pass drug tests. It's at the top of their minds."
'A mind is a terrible thing to waste'

Read the transcript from todays goerie.com chat. What a joke.
Look at this sentence from Jake Rouch, who bragged of having 20 years of experience in economic and workforce development to Erie.
"...We will work to interconnect those employers with the CareerLink to begin to build a seemless feed to the community - real-time information to help both the employer and job seeker...."
Nothing being said.
"We WILL work with...to BEGIN to BUILD..."
Pure polictico spin. Nothing concrete being said. Nothing you can pin him to.
Nothing words with no meaning and zero value.
How oes this guy have a job? I simply cannot fathom it. What yardstick does he get measured by that shows value over 20 years of doing nothing that allow shim to stay employed?

I agree 100%....I was embarrassed for our community when I read the transcript from this chat. Jim Martin chimed in with his nonsense in addition to the business jargon from Rouch. It was like listening to advice from two high school students that have collaborated on a career development research project for their business management class.

These same old Erie "business experts" make the rounds to all the local social functions just to be seen in order to solidify their pathetically weak status in our shamefully dying area. Why they continue to remain in their positions is a travesty only topped by the fact that so many others continue to buy into these bloated phonies. Erie seems to lack the intelligence to figure out that these clowns are incapable of doing anything but step into a buffet line and schmooze the night away. If this was indeed figured out then they would have been shown the door years ago instead of posing for pictures in the Sunday community page.
