That's it, Thelma. Press that accelerator harder so we can speed a little faster really fly off that economic cliff!

Not that I would wish ill upon you, however, you would only understand if you or someone in your family were to suffer a catastrophic illness. You'll be amazed at how quickly your fortune disappears into the hands of the insurance companies and hospitals! Of course, there are rip-off artists everywhere, so more oversight in these programs (SS and SSI) would be long overdue!

I am a veteran with 20 percent V.A. disability. Is there a income cap or percentage cap on this $250 veterans' stimulus payout?

Good question, I am also 40% disabled vet myself. Also receive 20 year retired military pension. I will take all i can get.
I have a 26 year military retirement from the reserves (about 9 years active). I was 60 percent and 100 percent, but accepted 20 percent to remain in the reserves (they kick you out at 30 percent). And I just got my Persian Gulf bonus from PA. Keep the money coming coming, disabled veterans are the only one's who've earned our stimulus check.

I have to get DeLuca to cash mine. I have no credit, no bank account, no job. Maybe I should charge something to these Repubs who want to sell me a house.

Just a question there....if you can't afford a home why would you try to get one???? The people who BOUGHT HOMES AND COULDN'T AFFORD THEM, I do not feel sorry for, they figured the gov would bail them out sooner or later. I am sorry you have no job...I have one and don't know from one day to the next if I will or not. It's a mess and hope to God it will turn around. But I have never been on welfare, worked hard all my life and still, I have nothing to show for it all. Maybe I should have been a blood sucking welfare welp....then maybe I would have no worries today!

Dear Sir,
In the article that I just read I hope that I understood it right. Those on Social Securtity and SSI are going to get $250 a piece and we don't have to do anything to get it? I and my 4 children are receiving both of those and we have it all electronically deposited into the bank. Will we receive it at the same time as the other checks or not? This would be nice if it did occur but I hadn't even heard a word about it until now. If you could send me a message via e-mail then I would appreciate it. My address is [email protected]
Yours truly

I hope to GOD that it's only adults on SSI getting those checks and not kids.

Funny how we taxpayers are funding the welfare recipients, the often-feigned disability injuries, etc., yet all these lames have enough money for computers and the Internet. I guess that's so they can look for a job.

So sorry Richard the have the computers , yes, we who work bought them for them, but as far as them looking for a job on the internet, forget about it, they are looking for the next baby daddy on there....so don't get your hopes up.

not all people who get SSI are welfare cases. my 10 year old daughter was beaten so badly but scumbag kids that it rendered her disabled, does that make her bad? no it doesnt. she was a victim who cant have the normalcy she once had. an i could use that money to help to pay for trips to the therapist and doctors being that i am a single working mom. and at times barely make ends meet.

single mom? Where's your husband, and/or the father of your supposedly disabled daughter? And why does she get SSI?

because a group of black girls stomped her into the ground on a school playground, she was 10 years old at the time now is 11. her father was abusive to all of us, so we left him an came here. and yes he is a jerk.so does that make us bad no it doesnt we are the survivors of violent crimes which were not our choice. do you think my 10 year old enjoyed having her hip broken so bad it required surgery? And not being able to run and play like the other kids? no she hates it. so dont always be so quick to judge others. i dont think shr likes being diabled, do you?

I would like to know if people who receive Social Security Disability are eligible for the one-time $250.00 Recovery Stimulus Payment.

The article is a unclear on this point of beneficiaries eligible for the money.

A long time ago, on an Erie-area schoolyard, a kid crushed my young skull with a baseball bat. Am I disabled? Yes. Did I get SSI? No.

My family was poor but welfare was shameful. We didn't accept it.

Today, there is no shame.

Some people are just too ignorant to understand. I don't know how anyone couldn't tell from your first posting who you were, and even if they couldn't to be so ballsy to question you on it. I worked 3 and 4 jobs most of my life to have a descent living. A brain disease that I was born with left me disabled. I would love to be out there working, rather then being in constant pain. I was misdiagnosed for 35 years, and passed the gene on to my son. He is disabled, but is not on SSI because I made enough working all my jobs for him to draw off of my ss, that I paid into for the 20 plus years that I worked. Yes there is a father, and he works long hours and sometimes even 3 months straight without a day off. It is not cheap to have a chronic illness. We pay over $200.00 a WEEK for insurance coverage, plus have $6,000.00 a year out of pocket costs for treatments. Not everyone out there that gets SSD is ripping off the system. And there are ones that are on SSD that do not recieve welfare!

I would never wish this on any child. So sorry she has to go through this. In this case, I'm glad you were able to get disability for her.

There are cases where someone has four kids who all have "ADD", so the parents get over $2500 a month, which they spend on themselves, not the kids, nor do they save for the kids. THAT'S what most people are angry about.
