The Police lie to the media; they dont tell the story straight for the purpose of appearing justified in their arrest. This man was followed into his friend's DRIVEWAY by the police officers, for failing to signal into the DRIVEWAY at 2 am, after having subsequently used his signal appropriately turning on to columbia county route 7 not 20 feet away after the officers had followed him for roughly 4 miles. Definitely intoxicated, right? The field sobriety tests were passed with flying colors; Brendan was truly arrested and charged for mouthing off. There was a witness who can testify to this. According to the constitution, we have the right to abuse the police verbally under the first amendment. Our justice system is corrupt. Who do we have to police the police? A hard working, full time student with no criminal record whatsoever is now the proud owner of a tarnished reputation and an expensive attorney, and quite possibly life destroying legal punishment, affecting his ability to earn an income, not to mention the defamation of character suffered by these ridiculous stories posted all over the internet and aired live on Fox News 23 out of Albany. The arresting officer is no more than 3 or 4 years older than this man, eager to exert his (most likely recently obtained) authority over a young man with the will to contest these allegations zealously. Wouldn't you be upset if the cops followed you into your friends driveway, demanded you extingquish your cigarette with a foul attitude, refuse to answer your questions, then state you're being investigated for DWI? OF COURSE NOT! Nobody could possibly be upset or have an attitude in an incident of that nature. In the eyes of the law, becoming aggravated with an arrogant young officer is admissable evidence used to corroborate that you were considerably intoxicated and belligerent. This is because it is impossible for someone who is sober to become angry and have words with an assuming arrogant prick with the power to take away your freedom if they decide they would like to. I don't respect this kind of police officer, and I never will in my life. I know some really good cops, and this guy isn't one of them.
