The laws that tightened up the distribution of prescription drugs has created a huge demand for heroin. It used to be an addict could have multiple doctors writing prescriptions for opiate pain killers, oxycodine, etc. The new laws put a stop to this. The addicted people can no longer get the prescriptions and have turned to heroin as a cheaper alternative. The drug cartels have increased the manufacture and distribution of heroin to fill the newly created demand. The "streets are flooded with heroin."
