wow you do keep up on things dont ya! i would like to think frankfort would have the same outlook you and i have. what is the mayor and stan thinking? oh thats right they arent! so now what would you do with south side? tear it down or give it away? leave it sit a couple more years and it wont be worth a dime. what a shame. if IVT wants to be uptown then let IVT go and screw another town. ya i know the mayor wants to get his way, but at what cost to frankfort! be the man you say you are cris and tell IVT to kiss our as/! i know you have it in you to do the right thing. my dad had a saying, this dog wont fight. dont be that dog cris.

the south side campus has everything that IVY needs. plenty of land to expand, school rooms, front office a gym, a place to eat on campus, and plenty of parking, and we the people of frankfort own the damn place. are we to set back and watch this school just set and crumble to nothing? the only thing i can make of all this is location. do we really need a campus in the middle of our town? hell no! the mayor and his people are putting the campus there because they want to puff up their chests and say LOOK WHAT OUR MAYOR AND HIS CREW CAN DO FOR YOU! its so he can say look what i did for you. its for when he runs for office somewhere else.
You nailed it Old Man!!!

One level for handicap access too.

The word from Indy is, the mayor lost his connections and the dream of his claim to fame "Stellar Community Grant" is pretty much gone. Sounds like all the "horn blowing" has pretty much fixed his boat.

This mayor will ruin it for any republican currently in office who runs against him in 2015-16. The democrats can pretty much figure on winning in the city and county.

Hell, their probably licking their chops already and planning our future.

Well......"Hmmmmmm" You are close ta bein ALL right too! Except the Dems aren't all lickin their chops - Eric is and gonna use EVERYTHING that McBarnes is a doin NOW to hold over his head! Woods has been preparrin for that Seat since before Johnny Boy got his butt beat by McBarnes! So next in Line is Eric boy. Just watch and see what this ol guy posts! p.s. Didn't ya notice that when the Rural food conflict was goin on and when they talk to the "City" they ALWAYS talk to "Eric boy" and NOT the President of the City Council??

that IVT wanted South Side School but something about the school Board would not let them have it? Not sure. This was during Pipp time. Would have been a great location, but like the Jail, it is downtown with not place to build if needed.

Well I guess all you above posters are right. This IVY is a loser,it will fail, bankrupt the city and county. It won't have the proper classes and is in the wrong location! The Mayor should be shot for trying! After all thats what IVY's wanting, failure, along with all the factories and the steller people in the community that have donated to progress. All these people are stupid and haven't considered one of these points that you have mentioned. I just hope all these people that step up every day and put their time and money into our community would just read topix and see the error of their ways. They should learn to listen to the fine, fine, fine, citizens here on topix that truly want to see Frankfort progress. After all they have done all the homework, went to the difficult task of posting here, put their blood, sweat and tears into their efforts. I am sorry, I need to stop this post now. I feel the greatest erge to throw-up!

They'd do a damn sight better if they did listen to a few of the informed people who do their due diligence in finding out the facts instead of listening to their little circle of friends and companies that are paid to tell you what you want to hear.

Look, it's real simple and has been stated several times above, but here's another kindergarten understanding for you since you don't seem to understand it...

IVT has no dollars in the project.

The city nor the county has the money to fund this easily available.

The matching grant the mcbarnes was counting on with the current dollars are non existent due to some sort of error.

The IVT people haven't had any success in the two rooms at the library.

We want post education!!!! We want a great school like IVT!!!!! We just hate seeing a couple of million of taxpayers money plus all the the freebie work of the city and county to get the utilities and such in place.

Do you get it now? This isn't about hate, this is about being realistic about money and how it should be handled.

Is this opinion so wrong???

It all comes down to this! I just don't like the fact that, if you have such strong opinions about what is going on with IVY, then this is not where you should be expressing it. Lodging personal attacks on here only makes you look like a hater. People ask the same question over and over, WHY HIDE BEHIND TOPIX. If what you say has merit, then you have nothing to fear, you will have a following, maybe even me! But everyone just says, thats what a coward does, no one believes you, no one believes you have done your homework, period. That is not going to change, ever.

Why are you responding on here if you think hiding is such a cowardly thing to do?

I'd say you just labeled yourself a coward too. Welcome to the club.

Wrong, The big difference between you and me is this! I don't us TOPIX to demean, slander people. BIG DIFFERENCE! Topix is here for only one reason, not saying its a bad reason, but only one! allows people to vent with no repercussions. Its is childish to launch personal attacks, rather than address the issues in a adult manor. The saying goes "when I was a child I acted like a child, when i became an adult I put away childish ways" Not in your club.

tired of it all has a point. but you have to agree that IVT and the mayor and the people that work with him are NOT doing IVT for frankfort. i think they want to show people see what we did! why would IVT not want a campus that is already built? we really dont have a good place on the square for them. why would the tax payers want to spend 4.1 millon dollars when we already have a campus here?

Well.... "Tired of it all" before ya go a Quoten the "Good Book", This ol guy is FAR from a preacher (even though some guy in here THINKS he IS) BUT, You need ta RE-read some of you OWN posts. You have been JUST as mean and cruel as the next guy. None of us in here really are in here to BE cruel But when OUR tax dollars are at stake...You BET we are upset and We DO get HOT!
WHERE else do we HAVE to VENT? The MEETINGS? Most of this ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT is over and done with before the MEETING starts! Been there Seen it! So "Ol Man" Let's just KEEP tryin ta ENLIGHTEN these youngins on the process of democracy and see if we can TEACH them to lift their voices through the VOTE and Public Outrage regardless of the COST or regardless of the officials NOT listening. There IS power in Numbers
Dr. Martin Luther King did WONDERS and NEVER lifted a hand. REMEMBER?

Frankly, I personally do not care about what "tired of it all thinks". Posters on here are on for one reason, they are pissed.

I don't want them spending my money stupidly. If someone has a different opinion, good for them.

Here's something to think about...

The money that has been spend since Mr. McBarnes has taken office has been astounding. A couple of million here, a few hundred thousand there, money for a vehicle for him, and of course a P.R. person that worked for him for free before he got elected and now gets an exuberant amount after he's elected. Not to mention the upcoming land swap for parking, and other hidden things yet told. So....

Where, exactly, has all of those millions come from?

We know Mayor Pippinger left us in a great position financially even though some won't openly admit that. So there has to be some money there.

We know that the previous financial chick Chittick transferred money between accounts. That was proven by the state audit conducted when she was in office.

We know that the city, in the past, borrowed money from the Power Company interest free.

We know that most, if not all, money given to this point will not be a part of the matching grant from the potential Stellar Grant Communities program for the Ivy Tech program.

Looking at the budget that the city has currently, it seems peculiar that all this money is being spent when the budget doesn't seem to support said expenditures.

Are there line items that citizens are not privy to?

When suggested to a writer employed by the Times, there seemed no interest in pursuing it.

Just some thoughts to ponder on a Tuesday evening.

Just saying

You know I went to the times for a story to be told about the present mayor and his administration and they wouldn't think of looking into it. The worst part about it was proven facts of what was going and what they were doing. The mayor, his administration and the media do not want the public to know what is really happening. The thaught has crossed my mind to start a local news paper for all the community to have say and have the real facts of what is going on, good or bad.

Looks like the mayor got some good news about the grant they applied for.

Any thoughts on the city's potential of landing this big financial fish?

i dont think asking questions about IVT is all that bad. we as tax payers should have the right to ask questions. we pay our taxes and have the right to know. that being said ill ask another. why are we not in the know about everything that has to do with IVT? it still goes back to why isnt IVT investing money in this school? why does the mayor on down think we have to foot this bill? i know im acting like a young kid with a lot of questions, but that is how you learn things. im not saying this is a bad idea, i would like to have sombody tell me what the hell is wrong with south side.
