Why are we not hearing more about this virus? My son had the H1N1 virus and recovered. One of my co-workers daughter has recently gotten the virus and from reports fron OU medical center and his doctors office the doctors are flooded with cases of children being sick and not enough medicine for them. He was told that children over 2 yrs could not get tamaflue. A nurse at OU medical center told his that 2 children under their care have died from the virus. Let us know how bad this is. Why is it not on the news?

I heard 2 schools were closed in OKC due to it; I heard there were 8 or 9 cases in Yukon HS. I have my son taking vitamins to hopefully keep his immune system healthy to fight it off! This flu is scary b/c we aren't hearing much about it. Hopefully the news will tell us more about it!

My question is-why aren't deaths of children reported from the seasonal flu like they are for H1N1? Children with asthma, etc. die every year from the seasonal flu? If parents are so worried about the H1N1-why do the majority say they won't have their child immunized? My son was one of the young adults who took part in the research-he did not even have a sore arm! Peopl-chill out! Several pf the above comments said-I heard or someone told me. Don't believe all the rumors. Be Smart.Chickenhead-call the okla. Health Dept. Hotline at 1-888-278-7134.

My 6 yr old was diagnosed with H1N1 five weeks ago. Symptoms included high fever that came on quickly (103), stomach discomfort, slight sore throat. I immediately took him to our doctor who diagnosed the H1N1 with a nose swab test. The doctor said that a Tamiflu suspension was available, just not the regular Tamiflu itself. This is an oral suspension that contains the active ingredient in Tamiflu and is dosed and placed in oral suspenion by the druggist. A prescription is necessary. You will probably have to find a "specialed" drug store that will mix these type of items, as stores like CVS and Walgreens don't. I used Sherry's Drug in Edmond. My son recovered back to normal in 4 days. This flu's effects were basically the same as the regular flu. NOTE: this flu however sometimes comes with a "tail" - about 4 weeks after he recovered he came down with a high fever again for 1-2 days. Our doctor described this as the "tail" of the beast. The symptoms can come back again several weeks after the initial bout is over. This second time came and went quickly, the only difference was that there was nausea with this second time, which didn't happen the first time.
