i can tell you this much if jim shaffer is the head of this i know it will be screwed up just like when he was on the fire dept as chief that he lied about his certifacation and had to resign and lied to half the people in the village about doing things when he was the village adminastrater hell the village council is still trying to clean up his and his wifes mess from the last 20yrs all i can say is i hope it turns out and is not a flop like the other stuff he half assed over the years GOOD LUCK FELICITY AND TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE DEPENDING ON JIM SHAFFER'

I have known jimmmy and Debbie for years and hear to say that the village looks a lot better because of the grants and work that jimmy did while employed by the village. It's a shame that we lost a valuable asset to this community because of politics and dumb ass people not willing to support him. It's time we clean up the town and get back to the "good ole days" and support each other. Jimmy best of luck in fulfilling this great task. I'm sure it will be a big success.

you must not have known him to well our you would have known that politics dident run him out or dumb ass people jimmy ran his self out he resigned from his job becuse his wife lost the election so if your going to comment on somthing get it right and for the grants he did work on those but he got extra money for that wich i think should have been part of his job and since you know him so well on those grants he received over 10;000 dollers for himself that was 2 percent of the grant now did you know that the sad part is that debbie only had 2 or 3 years left to retire from the village and if she would have won THE ELECTION it would not have been a problem but since her compatition beat her out she lost her retirement but if any body would come to the village meeting they would see that you had to live in the village to have that job and or run for it since the maccentyers got in office all that has changed as you can see they built a nice house outside of town and changed the ordanence now it is not a elected job she now works for the village as an employe with same benafits she had as an elected offical all i can say is the mccentyers were a little smarter than the shaffers after all those years working there and knowing the ordanaces you think the shaffers would have known how to do it but as we can see it only took the mccentyers less than 1 year now whoes fault is it it wasent politics or dumbass people it was shaffers fault for either being to confadent or not being smart enough so get it right FRIENDS SEE YA.

The festival has nothing to do with the Corporation of Felicity and the Fiscal Officer position has nothing to do with it either so I'm not sure why you are bringing that up.

The "McIntyre's" didn't change anything. In order for Heather to continue her employment with the Village she was informed by Judy Miller with the board of elections that the day she moved outside of the Village she could not continue her employment unless she was an appointed official and not an elected official. She asked Council to change her position from elected to appointed and they obliged. They didn't have to. If you attend Council meetings you would know that.

Also, Debbie did nothing wrong when she was the clerk. You may not have liked her but that's your problem. The bottom line is she didn't win the election - that's life. People lose elections everyday. That doesn't mean she didn't do her job or that she wasn't doing a good job. She just didn't win. Jim resigned his position by choice the day that the new clerk took over - that was his choice and that has nothing to do with him being the chairman for the festival.

I applaud him for standing up and wanting to promote our town. I applaud anyone who does the same thing. I hope that the festival is a success. I know our family will attend and I hope everyone else in and around the Village does the same.

If the festival has nothing to do with the corporation of Felicity and it is being sponsored by The Twpship Historical Society, yet the newspaper says it is to celebrate Felicity's age, then what is the festival about?? I know it isn't the Gourd Festival like we use to have.

It is to celebrate the Village's 175th birthday but it is not being put on by the Village. The Franklin Township Historical Society which is made up of citizens of Felicity and Franklin Township is the one putting it on, paying for and getting donations for the event.

It's basically just a historical event, from what I understand. Highlighting the past of the Village. This is the most recent article I could find:

doesn't sound like it will be any fun if it is going to be all by the historical society. Plus it is misleading to say it is for the village turning 175 yet has nothing to do with the village.think i will stay home.Gourd Festivals were more fun.

No. From my understanding it won't be like the gourd festival and I think you misunderstood what the other person said. It IS the town of Felicity's 175th anniversary celebration and there is a group that is putting on the celebration. It will be held in and around the Village.

I checked out this website and I found nothing that would interest my family. There is nothing for little kids to enjoy. It will be okay if you are a history buff, but for families with children, well there just isn't anything for them. So my family and my friends family won't waste time going. We all have kids.
