Funds miss used in this county could've fix the road from failing.$30,000 for an election that could've been held during last year election was taking from road funds!

They can find ways to put the money in their pocket. They pay the people in the school system a lot of extra money, but the school system is way below avg. This is a family run county and they need a lot of help.

This, much like many problems we have out here in the county can be attributed to a single factor: incompetent county officials. The "good ol' boy" system has put too many inept people in positions of power. This on of the reason we are looked upon as idots in the South.

I had always wondered where Hollywood got such foolish ideas about the south until I came to De Kalb County Al. and bought a farm, then wandered around much of the state finding it was the same everywhere I went.
Full of ignorant people who enjoy waving at everyone like a monkey in a zoo,and when you open their cage and ask for help they give you those monkey eyes like who the hell are you!?
The roads such as they are in this and many counties of Alabama are pitiful ,I've traveled into central America, south America, the islands, why even Mexico, and Canada and no place lets their roads go to hell as well as Alabama.
Thank God I still have my home in Atlanta.

atlantaGeekFreak, do you need directions back to Atlanta? I'm sure you would prefer the crime, traffic and congestion to our sub-standard roads...
The reason you get the "who the hell are you!?" look is most likely due to use still using your Atlanta manners, ill and abrasive.
Your other option to going back to where you came from is run for office and try to make things better and quit being a bit@h whining and complaining about it. Step up or get the hell out.

That isn't true. Ohio is just as bad when it comes to roads. I lived there until I was 19 and everytime I go back it gets worse. Ohio is a good place to grow up, bad a bad place to grow.

Best thing I can tell you is stay in Atlanta with your ill manors. The reason why people throw their hand up is because most people don't meet any strangers and are friendly as well as helpful. I find it extremely funny that someone from Atlanta, which by the way has some of the most stuckup people I've ever met, is finding it hard to fit in with a place that is as friendly as DeKalb County is.

As for the roads you haven't traveled much in Georgia have you? or TN hell for that matter most of the US. Every state has their road problems and every state lets it go for as long as they can that's a fact.

I am a native of Alabama but now live in PA. Try driving on the roads here and you'll miss the Alabama roads. The roads here were recently voted the worst in America by truckers.

well when I get through making money selling lake lots to people who think its grand in dixie, and once we get gambling in and I make my stake in that, and I finish clear cutting a few more hundred or so acres I'll go to another home I have in Recife.
I guess you'll have to tolerate me and thousands of others who have flocked here for the same reason at least another year and half perhaps 2 years.:))

Alabama is brilliant! It's a business strategy designed to help unload gas guzzling 4WD trucks and to sell more suspension kits.
