The news about this company coming to Clay Co. is very exciting. I was in Manchester this summer on a mission trip when I heard about the possibility of this economic boon for Clay Co. and I hope to return next summer to see this reality. Congratulations, Clay County.

People!!! Surely you dont believe that anyone will spend the huge amount of money being talked about. First clue ought to be that noone would spend several million dollars to level a mountain when they could just move down the road about 25 miles and get free property that requires only minor excavation. Close to interstate and railroad. I say SCAM!

I'd say London knows more about this than we ever will and just didn't want to deal the waste product from the plant or something !
I agree with the " realist " Why would you spend the money for all that excavation when you didn't have to , plus being closer to the railroad and I-75 .

1) Check the time line? Was there a public announcement of this trash project prior to the wet county petition, which was put into circulation on October 1, 2009? Is this a dry county trick to try to convince the CC citizens that jobs are NOT needed?

2) Yes acquiring the "right" land is very important to any project. Why hilly mountanious land that requires massive excavation unless it was free, only a small portion needs excavation or someone is trying to hide something from the public eyes?

3) Why wasn't the public given notice and a right to discuss and respond to the plant?

4) Enviornmental, EPA, issues have yet to be addressed?

5) Compare the very public vine & wine project with the very secret trash project?

6) Jobs are hyped! It is impossible for such a plant as described to employ so many people.

7) House building was down 10% last month. That industry will not recover for a decade or more. Folks are not running out to reinsulate their houses. The recycling industry is on the ropes. 90% of all sit-aside trash from cities for recycling winds up in the land fill. Prices for waste have dropped by 90%.

8) If this is a real project then this is the worst timing in the history of business.

Is this all an election gimick? Something sure smells???

I hope this deal works out, but????? Why did they start excavating before the deed was made, before a title search, survey, money changing hands, and core drilling. Core drilling? Every job I have worked on, has always done core drilling before they build a building of this size. This tells them how solid the ground is, ex. fill dirt, tires covered up, former dump, etc. I am having a hard time understanding what is going on with this project. This area needs jobs so bad that I am afraid we are overlooking a lot of "may be". Would you buy a house because you liked the doorknob?

why was this project so hot and died overnight. If this was real would they be moving dirt day and night. The project seems never to be mentioned anymore except on topix. Someone needs to give some honest straight forward answers. By the way why was nothing ever bid on this project.

If you have any doubts, read the news from wlex-18 news. You will find the story above. Waste Not Technologies has already purchased the land to build the new GreenPark. If you don't believe me, you can Google it.

Go talk to Carmen or Mike White. If you can pass a drug test you can get a job. Applications are now being taken. Do you have experience running a bulldozer? If so, they are looking for operators right now to start moving dirt soon. Then when plant opens, if you prove to be a good worker and drug free, then you can work at the plant. Good Luck!!!

This is all true. How many times has clay co. been promised something at election time? How many times were we told there was a super walmart being biult around eletion time? They would even go so far as to move some dirt at that sight and after the election was over, it suddenly stopped. If theres any true in this company coming, it will probably be more like 100 jobs, thru job shop. Meaning minimium wages and no benefits.

One might also ask;

1) Where are the building plans?
2) Who are the architects?
3) Although CC doesn't have a building code, the massive size of this project will need architects, structural engineers, etc..
4) Where are the steel suppliers?
5) The news story merely talks about an excavation permit issued in Frankfort. However, excavations can be for anything like a park, a dump or even a vineyard.
6) Finally, why would someone need to call the Mayor for a job at this project? Any real company would have a "hot line" or even an office in town to take applications. Believer us, nobody will call the Mayor to work in our project or join our grower coop! They will call our office!

Oh and the jobs, right! There is no possible way for a project as described to pay above minimum wage and compete with the Chinese. We know countless Chinese factories and can easly say that those workers will work 12 hours per day at 6 to 7 days a week for $600 per month! Is it really possible for this trash plant to compete? Answer - not a chance.

Perhaps these ghosts backers were planning to earn a windfall from federal stimulus money intended to insulate homes all across America? Guess what? The money is being returned to the Treasury b/c folks don't want the trouble of insulating an already built home!

Of course CC needs all of the jobs that it can get but my personal opinion is that something smells about this dump project! In other words, it is a trick or put together in such a rough shod manner that success seems very unlikely at this point!

This is just someone who got a government grants to start something that will never be finished. They'll put about 3/4 of the grant money in their pockets and use the remaining money to move a little dirt and then they'll tell you the company has gone broke. Chances are they got a grant that would only be about 15-20 percent of what it would actually cost to get the project up and running. This happens all the time. Remember the electric car plant that was coming to Western Kentucky a couple of years back and also the plant that was supposed to make plactic decking materials in Booneville a few years before that. This is the same type of deal... no jubs were ever created. It's just another case of the government wasting your tax dollars and a couple of crooks getting rich.
