The guillotine would be quicker and more effective, and therefore more humane.

Go back to pulic hangings - at least any possible future criminals will get to actually SEE what happens to those who commit crimes with a capital sentence.

I feel that the lethal injection has alot of flaws, still the use of the lethal injection is done. I believe that it IS inhhuman and barbaric. When will the practice of this end? A prisoner does have legal rights too. So thank the forum for its concern.

While we should stop short of torture, the truth is that condemned criminals have little concern for their victims. Increase the dosage and make it work or return to the firing squad.

Why are we so worried about criminals rights? I say, do the crime, do the time. That includes crimes resulting in a death sentance. Who cares if they felt pain? What about the pain they inflicted on the victim? Doesn't the Bible say "am eye for an eye?" Isn't that the basis for capital punishment in the first place?

yes, america believes in premeditated murder for those they believe did wrong. isn't this what a lot of murders believe? they have the right to murder those that did them wrong or a loved one. murder is murder and to make a man who might have really been innocent suffer as well as die is sad. too many innocent people are framed and had a witch hunt performed on them to justify the death penalty.

so what these murders didn't give any considerations to their victims or the famlies and friends when they decided to be the exceutioner. The slower the better

How does anyone know that it is painful.? Did anyone evr come back and make a report? I had a dog that was suffering some years ago and I had to have him put to sleep because I could not bear to see him in so much pain. He went off very peacefully while iI held his head and cried. I did not see him in any pain, the only pain there was the Vet who cared for him for 14 years and myself.

All murderers convicted beyond a reasonable doubt should be dealt with in a manner resembling hell. Why should they even worry about killing them humanely? Or pay to jail/feed them for a couple decades for that matter?? Throw them all in a concrete pit with a floor drain...let them their own feces and tear eachother apart to save us the money and energy. Chalk it up to "natural causes". Criminals should have rights to a certain extent depending on the crime and level of obvious guilt. Next thing you know murderers families' will be getting money because their poor piece of crap murdering child was killed "inhumanely". What a world!

Who the hell cares!!!! Another example of we don't care about the victim. Please don't hurt the convicted. I'm so sick of them. I bet if you killed them like they killed their victims. You would have a lot less murders.

The death sentence was never intended to be humane. It is a death sentence for inflicting the worst crime against another. It is the ultimate payment for a life taken against another's will. While some prisoners are remorseful and repentent some are not. You cannot reform evil nor save the devil!!!

It scares me to think the kindness of individuals like you go toward a convicted murderer (prisoner is the wrong word) and bypasses the victim. In this country we all have an inherent duty to protect freedom, we honor our war dead and we also honor victims whose lives were taken by the sick-minded amongst us. It is my opinion that we stand for the victim, we put ourselves in their shoes and deal with perpetrators accordingly. Lethal injection is less than justice for the victim and is an insult to victim's rights and is a deterrent with no teeth.

A country which uses "killing" --albeit "legalized"--to solve its problems, is usually one which ends up with a high rate of killing amongst its citizens. The death penalty does not deter crimes, it merely validates the violence within the crimes. Instead of thinking of new ways to carry out capital punishment, we should follow the example set by the Pennsyvania Amish.

Terrible crimes are commit by these people "who should be put death.!

Poor men and others they had a hard life, there mother did love, them, they also blame every one, but
them selves.

No one feels sorry for the victim.
No wonder they what to go back to jail,
clean sheets, good food, hobbies, you can go on and on, for the victim, it cost money to get help.

I have a horror of killing, it does not matter if it is a animale, weeds, the good Homo sapiens..

But I have no regards for evil Homo sapiens, The evil men should all be tortured.

But alas it is not so?

Dear Most People on This Thread,

The subject of this article is NOT whether people should be put to death or not, but whether lethal injection is humane or not, PERIOD! The evidence seems to be that it's not, at least sometimes. All American forms of execution, past or present, without exception, can be botched. When that happens, the results are fairly hoffific. Even guards and wardens themselves have been known to be sickened on these occasions.
John Sakaly, you're absolutely correct. The guillotine is the only "humane" method of execution that CAN'T BE BOTCHED.
Now if people here want to make an execution as horrific and painful as possible, I know some real doozies from history...

That is crazy. Why don't they study and get medical information as to the doses that is to be given to the individual person being executed to properly carry out this execution without any difficulties of not giving enough doses? They should know what they are doing and if it is being done in the proper way. That would be more humane anyway.

My wife was killed by her ex-boyfriend. He was put to death by lethal injection. I was glad to see the final outcome. When it hits close to home, people WILL change their mind about whether it is humane or not.

Deterring crime starts in the highchair not the electric chair. Shame on the "Justice System" who's purpose it is to rehabilitate. While spending millions to incarcerate, why not put that money into rehabilitaion efforts, especially at the Juvenile level. Most of the adult inmates have experienced the justice system as juveniles. Those who are proponents of capital punishment should each be given the job of the executioneer..they will change their minds if they don't loose it first!!!
