yep , a future teen who can drive at sixteen and you want him to drink at eighteen, the old adage "
:give them an inch and they will take a mile" , every thing plays here at 12 can't walk to the end of a driveway to take the thrash ,

His mom better learn quick she can't give this little kid any lee-way. Had a kid just like him, the more you give, the more he took.
We let our boy take the car 2 blocks over to pick up a friend while he had his permit..... He couldn't stop there. Instead, he thought he'd go joy riding and ending up crashing. Luckily neither of them were hurt... but he hasn't learned yet.
I stopped giving.

My father used to let me drive the pickup in a big field when I was 10. And the cool part was I could drive it back to the house (about a half mile away) when I was done. Did I every divert from the route home? He'll neve know...

Why doesn't the article say whether he was texting? We cannot have any Offbeat stories about driving which do not mention texting.
