J C Penney was the my first - credit card! I refuse to pay for a catalogue and when I pay my bill in the credit department, I usualy p/u a few specialty catalogues because we have a small store that is not able to carry a large supply of merchandise! It used to be a Montgomery Wards store!

So sad! I worked there about ten years ago, it wasn't the greatest job but it helped people through some tough times. Too bad it won't be around to help others in need of work.

I don't understand why the catalog center cannot be converted into a on-line center so these J.C.Penney employees can keep their jobs... Why can't someone find a way to make this work ?

for many of us this is our primary job not a second source of income some have suggested. we wish there had been another option. there are not jobs left in the stores because we are coming off the holidays so many less people are needed so that is not really an option either. That leaves a variety of us looking for employment and benefits elsewhere. wish us luck! i think we will need it!

I was quite sad to hear about JC Penney's telemarketing closing I worked there for 7 1/2 yrs and it was a good place to work. The hours were flexable and that made it nice. To the employees now seeking employment I wish you much luck and sucess.

They found a way for it to work, they shipped the jobs over to india and threw the american workers under the bus.
India gains americans unemployed.

In response to Richmond, VA, what makes you think these jobs were sent overseas. An informed reader would note that JCP is closing catalog centers because of a major decline in "book orders"... Get your facts right or get out of here!
