My questionis it's 2009 and your just realizing racial tension at Manchester High School. I graduated in 2002 and that year and years previous there has been nothing but racial issues and once they redistrict and Clover Hill got some of Manchesters kids then there was racial issues then. The bottom line is that schools are trying so hard not to offend certain racial groups that they are forgetting this is still chesterfield we like to fish, hunt and we are southern it is part of who we are (no matter what your race) it is part of our culture and it doesn't matter what color you. And with the recession and money being tight lets be honest you can get warm hunting gear and spend little cash! Write an article that everyone doesn't know about and as far as any teacher pulling a student out she should be questioned on her motive. Usually the onces that cry racism are racist themselves!

Purely racially motivated on the school administrations part! What I am getting from this is that if you are "dressed like a good ole boy" in white t-shirt and camo, you are a problem. I wonder how many of those same students who were "bustin' a sag" got the same kind of treatment? You can bet none of them did because...wait for it....that would be racist!!??!!!

I currently go to Manchester and while I don't believe people should be taken out of class for their clothes I think that the seperation of people wearing different clothes is ridiculous. This whole thing was made so much bigger when people began wearing the same colors because to the other group it represents racism towards them and it's ridiculous. It was just a fight at the beginning and now it's a huge deal. My friends and I feel unsafe at school now. Quit provoking people and this whole thing will be over. This is incredibly immature

Dumb rednecks and fake thugs are the biggest joke to chesterfield county. Its not the civil war any more, quit complaining and calling out people because they don't like big trucks and shooting deer. The chesterfield school district is also one of the nicest in the state. youre not a god damn thug if you jump somebody or sell little bits of marijuana. Both need a reality check and not to complain the "chesterfield's finest" police force.

This is really dumb. This article doesn't even get the facts straight. This is a big deal, sure, but it's not really disrupting the learning enviorment at all, there's gonna be fights and racial tension no matter what we do. This isn't affecting most people that go to school there, only a select number of ignorant individuals who let it affect them. We just need to let this burn out.

I attend manchester high school and i think this "racial war" is completely ridiculous. I also think that the fact that they are trying to band camo and rebel flags is stupid too, due to the fact that neither one of those has anything to do with black people and slavery. if they band that then they should also band individuals who "sag" their pants.

When I was in high school in Northern Virginia some 30 years ago, we had students who put Rebel flags in their pick up truck windows and listened to Lynard Skynard. There were no news crews called out or stories in the newspaper. And, there were no fights. It really was no big deal.People here in good ole Central Virginia need to get a life. As long as you have as many different people from as many walks of life as we have, somebody is bound to not like somebody. So what!

The problem with Manchester High School is its principle Pete Kostee. There has been racial tension in that school for almost 10 yrs. it just keeps getting worse.

My daughter used to go to manchester and let me tell you,why is it always about a race issue, the black go around wearing baggy pants, and malcom x shirts and thats not racist against whites? cmon who in the world would think white shirts and camo pants is racial?....cmon,people wake up,there will always be their way or the highway,if the whites cant wear their rebel shirts and their camos then blacks sholdnt be able to wear baggy pants and malcom x shirts and whatever they were, fairt is fair, not just for the one race....this has gotten blown totally outof coontrol, since when has hunting gear gone racist?......they dont wanna go to WV then, that is all they wear so stop palying the race game and wake up

The rebel flag represents the southern states that for slavery in the civil war. As told by my mother, that's why it should be banned

Okay, call me stupid, but I have to ask, how is a white T-shirt and a camo racist? I am sure I am not the only one in the Richmond area wondering this question, but now that the school has made such a stink about it, I bet the area malls will be sold out of white T-shirts and camo's by Sunday evening. Don't these teachers have some papers to grade?

To Tell You The Truth From The Way Begining Of This Situation Wasnt About No Race Or Nothing Of That, So Some People Got It All Wrong, Some People Dont Know the Truth And Began Assuming Stuff, Why Dont You Get The Information Right And Stop Being Ridicilous And Move On, There Was No Problem Until The Little Iccident, Your Making Your Self Look Bad, Not Everyone Us, But You. Some People Are going To Act Crazy Towards SomeThing They Think Is Right, But Would You Take A Risk On SomeThing They Went By If They Thought It Was... I Wouldnt Think So, So Dont Follw What People Are Saying Or Doing Its Called Avoiding It, Trust Me This Bigg Of A Problem Was Over Nothing You Would Have Ever Thought Of, But Now Its Over And Down With, So No Worries At All; Before Action And Assuming The Craziest Things Ever Get Your Information Straight.

the problem is not mr kosty..the problem is that there are a bunch of idiots at the school who are taking this way out of proportion..this black t shirt, camo things just needs to stop...who ever started this so called big deal needs to take a few seconds..stare deep into their camo...stare deep into their black t shirts ...and then do some serious growing up..for heavens sake the name of the school is manchester HIGH SCHOOL...not middle or elementary act like it..we are all people whether black or white, pink or purple we are all the SAME. we breathe eat and use the bathroom all the same...its 2009 going on 2010 MANCHESTER HIGH SCHOOL ....GROW UP..become the young adults that we are supposed to be.

lets go with the school uniforms and get rid of the pants hanging at the knees and the camo and get the teachers back to teaching and stop playing favorites and security guards.

You know I graduated in June 09 from manchester and yes there has always been problems between the "Rednecks" and the "Thugs" i say thugs because there are some people who are african american who want no part of this and get along with the rednecks. Personaly I've done the whole camo and white tee thing and I'm not at all racist so I thinik the staff at manchester should back off on the clothing aspect and try to focus on the real problem like how they are going to handle this aand not try to make things for one group different then the other.
