WOW this is to Abby and the other people who "trying" to come off on me for standing up for. You guys have NO idea what she has been through and im not saying what she did was right at all believe me but she realized what she did was wrong and hopefully she will learn from it i mean damn.....and talkn about i need to stop dancing and etc. for your information i have 3.7 gpa, honey i KNOW my education and dancing isnt just my sport i have been on the dance team for 3years and am not doing it this year because of my own decisions. Erin has done a lot for the team and has helped them. Education most def comes first in my life but so does dancing. i have gotten plenty of scholarships for my dancing and right now i am at alvin ailey and i have received a FULL SCHOLARSHIP! so dont try and tell me what i need to do and i need a counselor....get outta my face with that one. you need to seriously grow up and realize youre trying to attack a 17 year old...i never said one disrespectful thing to anyone so dont come at me like that

and also being on the dance has gotten my money because every year you are on the team you get $100 but i also dance competetively at a dance studio...dance team was just something to do but im glad that i met erin because she has made the team a lot better. im not going to give up something im very good at because of a stupid comment you made. you should start learning about the arts more and realize education will you get you to a lot of places but so will other things

Lets not shift the blame to cops, dancing, or anyone or anything else. She did make a mistake. Lots of people in VA make that same mistake and have to deal with their names in the paper, on TV, and even killing some innocent person. Its all a part of the consequences that come along with that type of mistake. I'm sure shes a tough person and can come through this on her own despite what we say in here. Just like you, everyone here is entitled to their opinion and will voice it. You like dancing, you have a 3.7gpa...all very good, but youre also allowing a public forum to get your panties in a bunch. 3.7s and dance all you want to. You need to relax and realize real life isn't as easy as it may seem and if you get angered over something as simple as this, youre in for a rough lesson.

BTW...when did getting paid for high school or collegiate sports become the norm? Who pays you to dance?

I am very dissapointed to hear about this story... I was actually the coach of the Manchester High School dance team before, Mrs. Miller took over as the volunteer coach. I was a part of the Lancer Dancers when i attended Manchester High School as was my older sister. We looked up to our coaches as role models. They were good standing members in the community and great coaches. When I took over the team i realized i needed to be that role model for the young girls i was going to be coaching. I was young I was 23 years old, i went out to bars and drank HOWEVER when i took on the responsibility of watching over and being a role model for 12 teenage girls i stopped all of that. I wanted to be the coach they looked up to and wanted to be there role model.
yes everyone makes mistakes and i am no way saying that i am perfect by any means HOWEVER she was apparently not thinking about the result of her actions. She has bright, talented girls looking up to her, and for those young girls to see that is devastating. There is enough peer pressure in this world today brought on teenagers by other teenagers but to see your coach flashed on the news for being arrested, is not ok! Not only was she not thinking about those girls but she wasn't thinking about her family or anyone else who might have been on the road on her way home.
I feel horrible for those girls. When I coached them they were so bright, full of life, talented and just a great team. I hope this does not affect them at all or distract them or stop them from being the wonderful team that they are. Coaching them was the highlight of my year, going to practices and games, and seeing the girls love of dance, the same way i love dance is the best feeling. They need to keep their heads up and stay positive.

And to those people who have commented to saying "so what she is a volunteer?? whats the big deal"... umm it is a huge deal! how do you know she is not drunk while around those girls? how would you feel if a volunteer at your child's school was a pedophile... wouldn't you like to know????? i think so!
I am also a restaurant manager... And it is the law for us to not serve anyone who seems intoxicated, it is also our job to call a cab for anyone we think can not drive. SO that bartender did their job!
I am praying for Mrs.Miller and hope she can pull through this.. She has a lot sitting on her shoulders right now. and my heart goes out to those girls, and i hope that they know what she did is not ok and hope they will learn a valuable lesson.

and the posts about being a Lancer Dancer is a waste of time and useless! Yall are crazy! The dance team and any after school activities are very important to have in your community!!!!!!! I have been dancing since i was 2 years old and it taught me great amounts of discipline and respect. I also was a straight A student while in school. Most all after school activities and definitely the dance team, checks the students grades... if they do not reach a certain grade they do not participate!! I know all of my dancers were smart students, excelled in all of their classes and almost all of them were honors students! In no way are they dumb or need to stop dancing and worry about their grades, they are bright smart girls and have all fo that covered!!!!

ex coach. well spoken, Thank you. I have known Erin in the past intimately and this girl has major issus and should not ever have been put in this position. This is far from an isolated incident, she has physically assaulted people in the past. I do not wish to run her in the ground, however it should be noted that this is NOT a one time screw up she is in my opinion a borderline sociopath who hurts everyone she comes in contact with. The most important thing is this overgrown child needs to finally be held accountable for something. her wealthy family, will im sure try to pay her way out of this. i feel so sad for the people that are still caught up in this girls constant mayhem. I could go on but she already waisted enough of my own time. i thought for sure i would hear that she was dead. its sad. Once again your post was on point. i wish you were stil the coach for those kids. on another note. news is so lame. find something more meaningful than all this girls gone bad nonsense.

This is the problem - our standards are now so low that students see nothing wrong with this behavior and view her as a role model.

Hmmm?.. a married woman driving around alone intoxicated, stops at a bar to drink more and gets refused service...keys are taken away...gets another set of keys out and starts driving away...gets stopped and sobriety tested by the police, fails, gets arrested and gets violent and assaults an officer and kicks out the cruisers window???....and now shes on the tv all apologetic?. wtf? Theres more to this than meets the eye. What was she doing already drunk, alone, when she arrived at the bar?...why the need to stop and drink more?...why isn't the husband on camera supporting her?...something is a bit off here?
