Perhaps meeting someone who became paralyzed after drinking and driving might help these teenagers face reality.

It still won't deter them either way, the burb teens are bored outta their cotton picking mind. The tea-bong couch potatoes are slovenly lazy paranoids.

half of you all are complete pinheads. More adults drink and drive than teens, so dont go and act as if its only teenagers. I've seen adults get wasted and insist on driving so dont act as if it's all their fault when it's your generation who are the role models. I'd even be willing to bet that some, if not most of you all, have driven under the influence before--and even if you have not, you probably know plenty of friends who have. Overall, society is to blame, because it is they who created this culture. Everywhere kids drink, everywhere adults drink, and everywhere they drive.

There are NO ways for teens to drink alcohol safely! The minimum drinking age, for alcohol, in Virginia is 21.

there's truly no ways for anyone to drink safely. it's only legal because of monetary reasons, and the masses would freak if it was prohibited

Please read:

*Nationally in the United States, over 12% of all fatal crashes were alcohol related and 40% of those involved teenage drivers who were drinking.

*Teenagers are less likely to drive drunk than adults.

These facts were obtained from the following website:

http://www.car-accident-advice.com/statistics...

It also states:

*Alcohol is the cause of 60% of all teen deaths involving car accidents.

So yes while more adults are prone to drink and drive, 60% of teen deaths by vehicle are alcohol related. I am willing to bet it has less to do with teens being stupid, or parents being irresponsible as it is to the typical teen syndrome "It won't happen to me, I'm invincible."

That does not make the child a dumbass or the parents bad parents.

Okay so i've read all of yalls comments and think half of you need to get over yourselfs. a kid(my friend!) is in critical condition and all yall are worried about is calling them stupid and arguing about teen driving. grow up and show some heart. im 18 and know plenty of 22 and 23 year olds that drink and drive! Theres is no "legal" age limit of drinking. It doesnt matter how old you are unless your responsible about it. I know teens do drink and occasionally drive but like matt said they're not the only ones that do it. Besides no parents *in their right mind) allow their children to drink...lots of kids go out and do it on their own...WITHOUT telling theyre parents where they're going and what they'll be doing. So you can't always blame the parents either. So layoff and show some sympathy for my friend. Get well soon spanky.:(

They need to find out where the alcohol was obtained and place charges on the person that supplied it to them. The teens werent the only ones at fault, some irresponsible adult had to buy it and provide them with it.
God Be with them as they recover.

Virginia need to pass the law that only two teen can ride togather. Parent can't be blame for everything a teen do. Did you listen to everything your parent said to do? No you did not

you people really are all heartless, all your doing is talking s*** about how stupid these teens are, instead of praying for them to get better. you act like you were never once a teenager. and also a lot of you are just pointing out facts that we already know, or stating some stupid law. everyone makes mistakes, its called being human. there are ways to drink safely, you just need to know your limit and be with people you can trust. teens drink because its something they want but cant obtain on their own. if they were able to get it themselves the desire or "want" to have it would be much less. they would be able to have it when they wanted and eventually wouldnt drink it as much, instead of going to parties and drinking as much as possible, becuase they dont know when theyll be able to have it again. but im done writing my views and opinions and just want to say i hope you pull through spanky, i know youll make it through this.

and just wondering, to the person above me, how does only allowing teens to drive with 2 in a car going to help, state law only lets you have 2 people in your car until youve had your license for a year, and most people after having a license for a year are or are almost 18, which is the legal age of becoming an adult, and they should be able to drive with as many people as they want.
