So from what I understand, they eliminated 16 jobs, are busing the students to a district nearly 20 miles away, have stripped the community of what's left of its identity and saved the tax payers on average about $50 a year...sounds to me like pure brilliance. Typical Ripley idiots.

What purpose of the school? I had thought it was to educate the children of our community. So, if we can give them better opportunities to succeed, and save $50 a year, it does sound pretty brilliant. Thanks!

The school is not there, however, to provide an identity to the people who can't let go of their fond memories, or are too stupid to realize that without doing something big, things would only get worse.

Well, lets see. We must practically drive the bus past Westfield School to get to Chautauqua Lake, Sherman School makes more sense logistically, tuitioning to North East, PA was also an un-investigated option...the first week or two that $50 saved in taxes will go into the gas tank to attend extracurricular activities. Regardless of the educational opportunity provided to the students, it was not the best option available.Yeah- BRILLIANT!

Westfield school is in turmoil, and in the midst of merger negotiations with Brocton. Really have no clue where they stand.

Sherman school, which by the way is an entire mile closer to RCS than CLCS is, is not able to take the entire student body into their school.

Neither Westfield nor Sherman can provide the educational opportunities that CLCS has to offer.

I have said before, I doubt that RCS could tuition their students as a district into Pennsylvania. I'd like to see the source that identifies this as an option.

And did you really say "regardless of the educational opportunity provided to the students"? You really defeated yourself in that one statement, thanks! That is the whole reason for school, educational opportunity. Case closed.

I still say you have completely invalidated yourself by saying "Regardless of the educational opportunity provided to the students, it was not the best option available". Adding name calling to your arsenal makes you seem even more feeble. Can't wait to see the names on the suit, and for the real truth to come out. Wanda is losing friends by the day already. When the rest see they have been blindly led into her baseless conspiracy theory lawsuit she will be alone.

more typical BS everyone knows that CLCS is the best choice for the students. sooner or later the state will have a regional school district and CLCS is the best choice for that also. so all of the crap about Ripley is just BS. we chose CLCS now live with it and be happy we are saving something. the town moving into the school is another positive move for the town and the school building. So stop complaining and help the town get better. choose to clean up your part and put all your negativity behind you remember the school Is not the town the members of community are. make your own pride and clean yourself up.

Funny how you all jump in and talk about the truth coming out. The truth is out, has been all along. Some people just don't like it. They throw accusations around, with nothing but their words behind them. All the "facts" I keep seeing are easily refuted. Financial impropriety? RCS finances are not handled by the school board directly. They authorize the administration to do their job. RCS doesn't even have a district business manager, they hire a 3rd party accountant, who works for an accounting firm. An accounting firm that would not jeprodize their status as a legitimate business to empower some contrived mafia style school board as described. Additionally, the finances are audited annually, and have never been found in violation. All this is available for anybody to access through attending board meetings and also FOIL. I can accuse people of being thieves, child abusers or drug dealers. But just saying doesn't make it true. Ms. Bentley has challenged votes before, there was nothing wrong then, this time is no different. The truth will come out, and I can't wait.

superintendent related to school board member, hired teachers related to school board members, back-pay for an aide related to school board member, uncertified teacher related to school board member,(who was allowed to get certification) anyone else would've been fired,, THESE ARE THE FACTS!!!!!! This spells nepotism with capital letters, and all the decisions that went along with protecting their own!!!

I can't respond to the specific references regarding back pay and certification. However, I'm sure that if there is in fact any truth to those, that they were handled appropriately and in the open forum of the board meeting.

Regarding familial relationship of board members to any administrators, teachers, or other staff, Ripley is a small town with many families that have lived there for generations. I'd bet you could play 6 degrees of separation with most of the kids in school and not need more than 4 degrees. Should none of these kids be allowed to come home and attempt to get jobs in the school district? Maybe we should just not let people who went to RCS work there, that would be the most fair. But, don't we want our kids to come home and live near us? Some people go out of their way to look for things that aren't fair.

Question, if these bad practices run so rampant and have for so long, have they ever been reported to the NYSSBA to be looked at internally? Or the Department of Education? Or is it better to file a law suit and waste taxpayer money that way? Conspiracies around every corner.

I still do not understand how you can rent school space out for the town and library. That's asking for problems. Close the whole school not just part of it, sell the property and get on with life. I feel there has been some things the school board has done that border on being illegal, but the tax payers have not stepped forward until now to take legal action against them. It is about time. Sad to see the teachers loose their jobs after some have them gave so much back to Ripley.
