I appealed my property taxes, filed all the correct paper work and wait for my call for the so called informal hearing.The next thing I got was a letter from the county appraiser advising me that at my informal hearing on Jan. 23 (which I was never invited)this is her final answer. So I guess I don't get to give my final answer? I don't understand why the appeal paperwork advises you to get all the documents to prove why you think your taxes are to high.What was this just something to keep me busy while the informal hearing was taking place without me? My taxes went up 219% from last year, I have been at this location since 1998 and they have been taxing me on barns that I have never had. I found out that the county appraiser is suppose to go out to you property every 6 years and appraise your property. Had they been out to my property and if they could count,they would known how many barns I have. But out of the goodness of her heart she took 68 dollars off my taxes, well I will be able to sleep better at night now! I know now why people don't try to fight anything in CQ county, You can't find anyone that can tell you the truth. Everything is swept under the rug and the commissioners keep their heads buried in the sand, If they don't directly hear about what is going on in CQ county they don't have to do anything.

Has anyone compared the commissioners tax levy in their districts? Might be why they're keeping their heads in the sand.
