Is Penny Ammons one of the pets of the legal system of CC? How many times has she been taken in for DUI or other driving offenses? Does she have connections that make her think the LAWS don't apply to her? This was senseless.

Penny Ammons is absolutely not one of the pets of Chattooga Conty. Far from it and yes she had been arrested for DUI previously but no one has said that she was DUI when the wreck of Dec. 12, 2o08 occurred, this is just speculation on the news media. At the present time Penny is still fighting to regain her life so it is not like she went out and got DUI drove her car had an unfortunate accident whcih involved a fatality and then went on with her life. She was air lifted to and spent 22 days in ERlanger, now she is in a nursing home at the age of 38 trying to regain the use of her legs and arm. I am not saying these things to take away from the tragedy of the accident as her family is very uspet of Ms. Hight's death if we could do anything to change it we would, but it has not been a bed of roses for Penny and her family nor does it look as if it will be for a long time to come. In this wreck Penny suffered numerous breaks to both of her legs, a broken pelvis, a broken left hip, a broken left arm, 2 collapsed lungs and fractured ribs. She is suffering in pain daily and is so upset over the wreck and not getting to spend Christmas with her daughter who is 12 yrs. old. I assure you if you ask any law officer or regular citizen of Chattooga County they would certainly tell you she is not a pet of the system. If she were a pet I assume she would not have a DUI case pending, I would assume the DUI case would have disappeared, and if she was DUI on the night of this most horrible accident and she was a pet I don't think all these accusations would be floating all over the internet and in the news media. So before you go downing somebody maybe you should try to collect all the facts. There is many things I could tell you to ensure you understand my SISTER is NOT a pet of the legal system of Chattooga County and I would tell you many stories of people who ARE PETS of the Chattooga County legal system, but you know what I have more important things to worry about and one of them is my sister's health. Until you have been in this situation on either side keep your opinions to your self unless you have all the facts and don't forget that she has a family and we have all been affected by this accident, as well as the Hight family's remorse over the loss of their loved one. Penny's daugher is currently being cared for by a sister, another sister and myself have spent days and days on the phone and driving back and forth and sending emails from numerous agencies trying to get insurances, nursing home admissions, hospital discharges, physician care plans and orders, and the likes of issues that you could not possibly imagine unless you have been in this siuationn taken care of. I have completed an entire compositon book with notes from the various people I have talked to just in trying to get her medical needs taken care of. She had 12 surgeries while in the hospital and still possibly has more surgeries to endure in the future so what I ask from you is that you pray for the two families involved in this accident, rather than critizie what you don't know anything about in the firts place. Thank you very much.

Well, all the public has to go on is past history and media speculation. And since people are judged on their past actions...well, you know how it goes. It's easy to say you shouldn't judge, but the reality is that everyone is judged on their past actions.

So you're saying she wasn't drunk, or high, or on anything else that caused her to drive across the highway and head-on into someone? Well, I'll wait on the "official" report.

Also, I bet Ms Hight's family would love to be in the position of having to worry about medical bills, as opposed to losing their loved one.

No I am not saying that she was not dui the night of the accident I am saying we have not been officially told and I like you and waiting for the final report as well and I am sure Mrs Hights family would rather worry about medical bills than the grief associated with loosing a loved one as I know how it feels I lost my mother 4 years ago this January and I have the ut most sympathy for this family if I could change it I would however God's will was to let it happen for some reason, a reason only HE knows so at this point all we can do is wait for the official word, assure our sister is cared for and continue to pray to the Lord above for his strength and guidance through this situation for both families involved and also for him to look after people that post comments on these forums about issues they know nothing about. Thanks for your comments and my God keep you in his sight.

Ms. Ammons is most defiantly not a “PET of Chattooga County.’ For Ms. Ammons erstwhile has been a nuisance to Chattooga County since she was 17, Using drugs along with distributing them as well. Not even to comment on her husband Matthew Ammons a recurring resident of Georgia Department of Corrections. As well as herself.
During the past year, Ms. Ammons has been arrested numerous times for, Public Drunk and DUI. Not even to impart the times she’s been pulled over for being impaired, reckless driving and speeding and not arrested. I only have one question,“Does Ms. Ammons not care what she has put The Height family through as well as hers.”What does she have to say?

What do you mean? What does she have to say? What does law enforcement and the local judges have to say? A habitual criminal, on the road, doing as she has always done? Why was she on the road? Why was Vines on the road sauced up? How many times has he been stopped and sent home with no charges because of who he is? If the Ammons woman was still on the road, I'd have to think she was someones supplier. Maybe I have a suspicious mind. No maybe about it. I do have a suspicious mind. Why don't you people have questions for your elected officials? Are you paying their salaries or not? They are either corrupt or the most incompetent bunch of politicians in the Tri-State area. If you can think of any other alternative, look at the pictures in the Paper of Record. Those pictures are worth a thousand words.

Whom and what are you questioning? Judge Vines, The Elected Officials of Chattooga County or Ms. Ammons?
Yes, Ms. Ammons and Judge Vines both were DUI numerous times and were arrested. Then they were later bailed. Not to exclaim, who’s the judge in their cases to allow two habitual violators to persist driving impaired? In Ms. Ammons occurrence, She continued to do so, that has left her in the litigation she is currently in. Furthermore Judge Vines is as well.

I question everything that doesn't look right to me. Everyone whose actions don't look right to me. Every comment that looks and sounds like a lie or prevarication to me. I question people that come late to the controversy and claim they have been on the winning side all along. I question where public funds are spent and how they are spent. I question the court system. I question government fraud (local, state, national and international fraud). I'm not content to play the country bumpkin too lazy to ask for answers to questions everyone should be asking.

"WHATSNEWSTOYOU" I do not impugn on your stance. Pardon all of that, we were debating the matter of Ms. Ammons. Not the status or condition that our county is in, nevertheless the state or national government. Furthermore if you question how public funds are spent. Why is it that nothing is made known of it? Thus far you’re still off subject with Ms. Ammons.

There isn't much to debate about your county. It is in the toilet. It was in the toilet before, when and after I was born there and things aren't looking up. Drunken Judges slapping drunken drivers on the wrist and allowing them to get behind the wheel of another car and with careless disregard, killing innocent people. I did not know Ms. Height but I did once have a young cousin that was killed by a drunk driver. A drunk driver that was a pet of the previous sheriff and other upstanding citizens of the county. He had connections, if you get my drift? He didn't have to pay a lawyer to get out of his DUI's, he just provided other payment. A child paid the ultimate price as did Ms. Height. Who or what should I debate about? Is Vines a State Court Judge? Did he sit on the bench in the County? Who pays his salary? Public funds? Taxpayers of the County? Are two Judges being paid for the same Judgeship? What hasn't been made known? I saw the pictures of the jail and evidence room in the SN. Who paid Sheriff Kelletts salary? Public funds? Who paid for maintenance on the jail? Public funds? Who pays to protect us from obvious threats? Not taxpayers? Is a drunk driver not an obvious threat we need protection from? Ask the families of their victims. Ms. Ammons is one piece of the picture. I'm sleepy so maybe I haven't covered everything with my rant but I will get back to it after I catch some ZZZZZZ's

I pray for everyone on the roads driving. You would probably never go out on the road again if you were to know how many people drive while impaired. It scares me to death to be out on Holiday's late at night, coming home from our families. A lot of people do it and a lot of people think they will never hurt anyone while doing it.....that they are a good enough driver to get by. While considering this one case and how horrible it is for both families, try to realize as you get very upset.... this happens everywhere all the time. We are in constant danger on the roads. No matter who you blame....pray as you go out to drive.

TO THE REST OF YOU HATEFUL, HEARTLESS, PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE A CLUE MAY GOD FORGIVE YOU FOR YOUR SINFUL THOUGHTS ABOUT MS. AMMONS AS HE WILL HER IF SHE ASKS HIM TO. DO YOU PEOPLE NOT HAVE A CONSCIENCE OR DO YOU NOT THINK OF THE HEARTACHE THIS WOULD CAUSE HER YOUNG DAUGHTER IF SHE HAPPENED UP ON ALL THE HURTFUL REMARKS YOU HAVE MADE. SHE IS NOT A SERIAL KILLER, SHE HAD AN ACCIDENT. SURLEY YOU HAVE ALL MADE MISTAKES BEFORE, OR MAYBE NOT!

CDS has compassion, laced with a lot of fear. Compassion for the victim's family and Ms Ammons family. Fear of the drunken and impaired drivers on the road. We all are smart enough to realize that it is pure chance we can drive from one place to another without encountering an impaired driver occupying the car headed in our direction. I pray everyday, more than a few times. I'll pray for the little girl and send a prayer of thanks that she wasn't in the car with her mother on that fateful day. That was a blessing.

You have got to be kidding! Why in the hell would anyone on here be more obligated to worry her daughter than she is?

So, it's okay for her mother to regularly drive "impaired", and to go so far as to actually KILL someone before she's finally removed from the highway, but the people on here need to worry about her daughter?

You are out of your damn mind. Only one person gave birth to that kid, and she should have been the one thinking about her kids instead of going out and getting "impaired" and killing someone.

I can't believe that someone would actually NOT care about a child and her feelings! As a citizen of the United States of America, it is ALL our responsibility to care about our children as well as each others children. I know this lady loves her daughter very much, and as I understand there have been no formal conclusions regarding this accident, nor any charges filed. It's amazing how everyone has formed negative opinions and has made preliminary judgements against this lady. God will forgive her and will forgive you all for your judgements against her. I pray for this lady, her daughter, her family and Ms. Hights family as well.

Wow. That's all I can say. Until now, I had always believe Chatt. County was made up mostly of Christians. Now I am ashamed to see that apparently no one there has read the Ten Commandments.(I'm referring to Thou Shall Not Judge). Yes, I know murder is wrong as well, but only God knows the whole story, and it is therefore not up to us to condemn. My heart goes out to the family of Mrs. Hight, as no one knows their pain. However, I am the kind of person who sees good in everyone. We all make mistakes every day. I agree something needs to be changed in our legal system, I agree DUI offenders need to be off the road. I also believe speeders, tailgaters and "road ragers" should be off the road. I'm sure some of you on here have speeding tickets, rear-ended someone, etc. and you would be taking the heat like Ms. Ammons if you had been so unfortunate to have rear ended someone with a child in the back seat. No, DUI is worse, I agree. I DO NOT agree that her daughter should suffer for her mistakes, so maybe you could all clean it up a bit? Mrs. Hight cannot be brought back no matter how much everyone curses. Does that mean we should destroy an innocent child's life as well?

So an innocent child should pay for mistakes made by her mother? Please pray she has the strength and will of Jesus if she's meant to pay her life for another's mistakes. Are we seeking revenge for the untimely death of dear Ms. Hight? Remember, when trying to hurt someone,(as everyone seems to want to hurt the other driver), the innocent will be hurt as much or more.

My point, I think I failed to make, is that we have no control over what another human does. Only God can help those of us who ask. I don't know if Ms. Ammons was intoxicated, but even when the system works, people still habitually violate the system. Mothers who are only allowed to drive after blowing into a device to start their car, force their children to do it for them. People who lose their liscense drive with out one...More people drive intoxicated every day. One goes to jail.....another is doing it that very night. My family has been touched by losing a young person in a DUI. That person was killed....but no one else was involved. I have three children of my own.....and I know how angry and devestated I would be if my own family member had hit us that night. All I know, is that God always has a plan for healing. And while our words may be here for anyone to read....they are only words. They won't change things. I pray for us all!!!!!!

To CCSD Ms.Ammons is no longer married to Mr.Ammons and Ms. Ammons has only been in The Ga Dept of Corrections ONE time not as a recurring resident. It would seem to me since you know so much about her even as to remember what she must have been doing at the age of 17 you would also know the details of these most recent events in her life. Dare I say since you did not know this information how much more of the information you posted was incorrect??????
