What is happening to Siler City? Are we becoming a Ghost Town? Now I hear through the grape vine that Townsend is closing down, if that happens what's next. Nothing will be left in Siler City. I moved her in 1990 because the town was blooming with business's and the people were all friendly, but now 19 years later, there is nothing left if Townsends closes. Some people would rather rob you while you sleep or not than to say hello. We have already loss so many business in this town that it ain't funny. Now with the finicial situtation that everyone is in what do you do. Our children are leaving there home town to find jobs when they graduate high school because they know that there is nothing left here. There has got to be something that the citizens of Siler City can do, if not all you are going to see moving in this town in aother 10 years in dust and a few older people that was left behind.
I say Towns People get behind our Mayor and Town Manager and make them find more business to come to Siler City (that is part of their job) and if they can't handle it then we need to find someone that can. We the people of Siler City are struggling to make ends meet, are they..I bet not.
You can bet one thing Siler City Folks, if Townsends does close our water bills will go up another $20-25.00 dollars and our taxes will go out of this world. We all will be selling or losing our homes and moving somewhere else where we can make a living. If you love your Town of Siler City, stand up and Fight for it!!!!!!!!!!
Have any thoughts of this? Post it maybe the Town manager and the Mayor will see if and get off their butts and do something to help Siler City.

From what I have seen in the many years of being here is this Town is falling apart..The people is great so why is all the companies moving away. Is the Town not giving any incentives to stay here. It seems as though Pittsboro is growing by leeps and bounds while poor old Siler City just keep getting lost in the shuffle..Folks Concerned is right, we need to do something, but what..Doen the Mayor or the Town Manager not have any ideas? Somebody should have some....

no Townsend is NOT closing down. the truth is ... there are employees of townsend who have been working for over 30 years and are making 15 an hour. so inorder for townsend to save money by not giving compensations, they are chaning the name of the compahy so that all employees are "rehiered" as new employees. thats why i work out of town. there are no jobs here and it seems that the ones that are here are all just finding ways to rip off their employees.
