Why can't the county look into speed bumps, traffic lights or something to deter people from speeding? Yes, drivers have the ultimate responsibility with controlling their cars and the county govenment should at least look into this

For the past 2 days we've seen lots of posts from friends and classmates of the young people who were killed. I would ask ALL of them - if you really and truly mourn your friends, if you really and truly want to do something to honor their memory, then when YOU get behind the wheel of a car, please drive carefully and responsibly. Don't let your friends and family have to mourn for you...

This accident has made me think about the example some of us parents are setting for our children. I will admitt, I speed with my child in the car and I see others doing it too. Speeding has become a way of life on the road.

I vow to make a change and set a better example for my child. I certainly do not want to experience what the parents of those four children are right now.

My prayers go out to the families of everyone involved in the accident in Charles County. Please don't think of would ifs. Only GOD knows if the young men involved in this accident would of survived had they been wearing seatbelts. Lets focus on the families who have to bury their sons at a young age. I have a 16 who has had ber learners since July, and I will tell you this. I learned more in drivers ED in school then what she is telling me they are learning in this two week training. I pray that GOD will give you peace.

Why CC do we always wait until something bad happens to do something about it. Why can't we save lives before someone has to bury a family member. I hope CC gets it together lets stop these tragey from happening to us all. We spend more time knocking down trees to build housing developments then we do making sure the roads are safe. Case in point Penns Hill and Cooksey road, has seen in share of accidents. I just pray that everyone regardless of your age be safe.

I was an EMT for 8 years in the local rescue squad and have been to many accidents an have seen first hand what not buckling up and speeding does.
True, four teenagers died in a horrific traffic accident and families of the teenagers and the community are morning over the loss.
But, when are all of the teenagers going to stop speeding and buckle up.
THEY ALL WOULD HAVE BEEN ALIVE IF THEY WOULD HAVE BUCKLED UP.
BUCKLE UP.
BUCKLE UP.
BUCKLE UP.

SOME TEENS BUCKLE UP AND STILL DIE. CHILDRENS NEEDS TO BE TAUGHT HOW NOT TO OVER CORRECT THE WHEEL. YES THEIR CHANCES OF SURVIVAL WOULD HAVE BEEN GREATER IF THEY WERE WEARING THEIR SEAT BELTS BUT, YOU CAN'T SAY THAT THEY WOULD HAVE SURVIVED THE HUMANS REMAIN THE IMPACT OF THE OVERCORRECTING MAKE HAVE KILLED THEM. REPLACE THE SIMULATORS TO TEACH SAFETY AND LET THE INSTUCTORS TEACH THEM TO DRIVE.

Just for all...
I live in the area of the accident and also of the intersection mentioned before (Penns Hill/Rt.6). I also am an EMTB/FF and have run plenty of calls there and have flownout my share of patients. But the reason of that is b/c ppl don't want to wait the 30secs for someone to turn off Rt. 6 or for them to continue down Rt. 6 to be able to cross the intersection.
But this is just for everyone's understanding... Seatbelts SOMETIMES don't make all the difference. In this incident, the car was mangled to the point that even IF they had on seatbelts this call STILL would have been FATAL.
I'm not; in any way, shape, or form; making excuses. I just wanted everyone to have an idea of the scene, b/c I've been reading a lot about everyone saying things like; IF they WERE WEARING seatbelts....

My heart goes out to the parents of the children we lost. I knew one of the boys so this really hit home for me, we have got to buckle down of our safety rules when behind the wheel. We can't keep losing our children to car accidents. May God bless everyone who is having a tough time during this tragedy, I hope this rises awareness for teens to take driving more seriously.
