The worst part of all was NOT KNOWING. There was no radio broadcast we could find to tell people what was the situation, how long it would be, where the problem was. OK, really, the worst part was people taking huge risks runnning in the median, the service roads, the shoulders, coming within an inch of our car. Rude, rude, rude. But the sheep like us were being run over and cut in, so we had to become like others and cut in. In one instance, we saw a truck slam on his breaks repeatedly to try and get the car behind him to hit him. It didnt' work, but it was scary and comical.
And another thing

The news headline made it seem like an inconvenience. Well, hello, half of America uses I-10 to travel E-W and the other half W-E. People in my car were hurting from needing to use the bathroom, after being the car 3 hours, we had a 4-hour wait to travel 3.6 miles. (I have the photos of the clock and the mile indicator to prove it.) If it weren't for my great sense of humor and attitude, there would have been tears.

My husband, two kids, and I were stuck in that traffic last night! Grueling! I agree with "a family stuck"...the worst part was not knowing. We weren't hearing any reports on the radio stations as we were passing through from Westlake, LA traveling home to La Porte, TX. It reminded me of the hurricane evacuation! Fortunately, we didn't get stuck in the hurricane evacuation (we evacuated earlier) but it gave me a very small taste of what many of our friends endured during the evacuation.

Kudos to a local at the Shell Station near Anhuac...he gave our friend (who was also traveling to Houston) some backwoods' roads to travel for us to get around the traffic. Our friend shared the directions with us and we were around the traffic in about 10 minutes... There still are good folks in the world today!! Thank you, Mr. Whoever you are!!! God bless!

I agree the worst part was not knowing what was going on. Being a reporter, I scanned all the radio stations to no avail. Rude idiots on the road didn't help matters. We also ran into a knowledgable cashier at a small, small gas station on the east side of I-10 and the girl was a doll! She gave us back road directions and we were headed to our destination in minutes. Thank God for her!
