You should take the time and read the written responses to the questions posed by Patriot members to the Candidates for Cecil County Sheriff.
Sutton is, AGAIN, out of his mind with slamming the current administration and pointing fingers! Janney is defensive and informative. Gerczak, Michaels, and Slater didn't feel the need to answer...or just didn't know the answers!?!?!
DeWitt took the cheese on this one! I liked his responses and I give him credit for sticking to the questions about his views! Another vote for DeWitt!

Whooooaaaaaa fellow Cecil Countians...CHRIS SUTTON STATED THAT THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT INVESTIGATIONS OUT THERE...YOUR KIDDOS ARE NOT A PRIORTY!!!!!!!! So does this mean that he gets rid of the school deputies and puts those people in the street level crimes unit and K9?

What about the drug problem in our schools???? Chris Sutton doesn't care about the children...HE ONLY CARES ABOUT PAYING BACK THOSE PROMISES...AT ANY COST!

Has anyone read this? I have read it and I am not one bit surprised at the responses from Chris Sutton.

First, the font is different for some of his responses. This says one of two things. He either has a strange habit of changing fonts on his computer, or he had some other people giving input and forgot to tell them what font to use. I am guessing that Gerry answered anything regarding Rights and Law. I could tell which questions were answered by Sutton because he went right to accusing mode and stated what he felt was wrong...also called "the glass is empty because Barry drank the milk" mode.

I have a SEVERE issue with the school deputies being pulled out of our schools to deal with investigations. We have a HUGE drug problem in our schools and not affording the drug education and police protection to our students is UNACCEPTABLE! I would rather see some PRO ACTIVE DRUG ENFORCEMENT AND EDUCATION in our schools than a street level crime unit busting prostitutes! Just because the children aren't old enough to vote doesn't mean that they don't count!

If these answers are "the plans" that the Sutton supporters are bragging about...YOU ALL NEED TO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE TOAST BURNING!

Educate yourself before Tuesday!

Then thousands of families had better vote against Chris Sutton! ZHe is taking deputies out of the schools to put them on investigations. I guess the children aren't important!?!?

He is supporting that binding arbitration for the crybaby deputies too. If they can't come to an agreement like adults, they need to get out and find another job!

copied from the PATRIOTS--sutton replied...We must continue to work with our youth and educate them about the negative impact that gangs and drugs have on their own lives but also on the community. We currently have deputies assigned to the school board but I do not know how much longer we can keep them there without assistance from the board of education. We have serious issues that could require us to pull deputies from non-traditional policing roles and place them on patrol and/or in investigations. I would love to have a community policing unit if personnel numbers allow it but I must prioritize the placement of deputies. he doesnt say he doent care. but if the school board buget is 6 times bigger than the sheriff's office then let the school pay for the deputies that are in the school sutton says he wants to keep the dare and youth programs but lets ask for some help from the school board...read it for yourself

He never says that he uis taking them out of our schools. This is just the spin you put on it. What he is saying is the schoolbard should fund some of the cost. becasue while the deputies are in the schools (which they should be) Our houses and communities are suffering. They have alot more money in the school board budget than the Sheriff's Office. Actually Sutton is the only candidate that makes our youth a priority in his platform. So don't exagerate on the facts. Again you cowards won't even state your name. Contact Chris and ask him he will tell you and I am sure he would publicly tell you as well. Nice try Dewitt/Janney supporters but keep trying your dirty tricks because there is going to be a new Sheriff in Town and his name is Sutton. Keep up the good work Mr. Sutton

"get it straight" aka...Chris Sutton,

I think the board of education has MORE than 8 times the employees and expenses than the Sheriff's office...And if you had any clue as to how a budget works...you would know that.

Your comment about the K9 and "so much more to be done" came from Dewitts campaign release so you could try to come up with your own ideas next time!

There is no twist to the story...it is in black and white!

You are a fool that can't spell! I think you need to go back to school! I guess all the shootings that happended in schools in other states could not happen here? Not in Cecil County! Why is that because you are dumb enough to believe that!I bet you believe in the tooth fairy, but the only problem is you have "NO TEETH"!!! You are the stupidest person I have ever heard of "NO WONDER YOU ARE A SUTTON SUPPORTER"! I want you to know that Sutton is not even in Dewitts class! Dewitt will destroy Sutton in 3 days! Now go read the dictionary and look up loser while you are at it!Because that's what you are!!

The Cecil County school system is in a tight money crunch just like everyone else. They have had to cut back on spending. Simply put, they do not and will not be able to afford paying for deputy's in the schools. Those deputy's are there to keep the kids safe. That is a courtesy extended by Sheriff Janney to and for the citizens of Cecil County. Chris Sutton knows what the deal is. He knows the school system will not be able to afford this. He is only trying to appeal to his base, the patrol and detectives of the Sheriff's Office. Like a previous poster said, "families are NOT going to go for this".

Let's do the math.

The school system only gets its money through tax dollars, paid by you and me. The schools are composed of children, which would be your children and mine, who we are paying, through our tax dollars to be educated by the BOE and protected, as citizens, by local law enforcement. In other words, there should be no special fund set aside to protect our children in school.

You are right. Sutton is a pompous ass if he is threatening the safety of our children in exchange for more tax dollars to fund a new program when it is the job of law enforcement to serve and protect ALL of the citizens of this County, which includes (obviously) adults and children all of the time.

Just so you know, the state requires the county to give at least the same amount of money to the schools this year as they did last year. It is called "maintenance of effort" and it is the law.
If there was no money in the schools budget to pay for deputies in schools (and there wasn't) last year, it would require a funding increase (which ends up as more taxes) for the schools to take over costs of the deputies in schools.
The county commissioners are not going to do that. They only funded the schools at the 'maintenance of effort' level in the new budget this year.
So for anyone to say the schools will have to come up with the money for deputies just does not know how the school funding process works.

can YOU NOT READ...IT simply states in the economic times we may need to look into other avenues for this funding....the school board has a buget 10x bigger than the sheriff's office. if there are 4 deputires in the schoold dont you think the school should fund half of them. that way the sheriff will have the money to HIRE 2 MORE DEPUTIES FOR PATROL...WHAT DONT YOU MORANS GET HERE...it says look for other avenues for the FUNDING....it never said he was going to pull them out of the schools

this is a bunch of crap. Sutton merely mentioned that he has to prioritize the placement of deputies throughout Cecil County. Has anyone taken a look at downtown Elkton or Rt. 40?! OPEN YOUR EYES! IT IS A DISGUSTING SESSPOOL OF TRASH, DRUGS AND PROSTITUTION! As a newer resident, I was very excited to move to this area, but disappointed as I really started to pay attention to the crime statistics. It is a disgrace! I think i would feel safer in Delaware! we should be embarrassed that the budget only allows 5 Sheriff's Deputies working at one time for the entire county. Just because there is a bunch of drug-addicts and trash in Elkton doesn't mean they can't hop in a car (or hitch hike like many of them do) and come to your neighborhood! I am sure we can find money in the budget to allow for some compromise about deputies in the schools, but cleaning up our streets has to be our first priority! I THINK WE SHOULD BE DISGUSTED WITH THE STATUS QUO IN CECIL COUNTY! I WOULDN'T VOTE FOR JANNEY OR DEWITT IF MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT!
