Mayor Wright has no clue how the sweepstakes business works. His comments are borderline slanderous to the business. So much for business friendly city, which makes sense why new businesses avoid the area. A mayor should represent the people, not push ones own agenda.. Small town politics at it's finest

I doubt the mayor ever rejected any funds provided by the NC lottery and that game is a true rip off. I did not think the constitution allowed government to unfairly tax any business out of existence but that is all this is about. Taxing sweepstakes out of business. What type business is next?? City decides they don't like you so they tax away.. What happened to American rights??

If it is the cities way of generating revenue, then all businesses should be taxed equally. If it is a moral issue then the city should ban them rather accept their money. Generating income off what one considers immoral is no different than tossing an extra 20 in the church collection plate to make up for excess sinning. Unfairly taxing sweepstakes does not appear fair but we are talking politics and nothing is fair that game
