At my house, my room is kinda haunting for a month or two but I think it was just my imagination because for some reason everytime I'm by myself for a night when my parents are somewhere else I would noises coming from my room. (I was on the phone at that time)I waled into my bedroom the noise got louder and louder then when I stopped at where the noise was it stopped, so, I thought it was my sound machine or my imagination so I walked back out of my room and shut the door. So, for an hour or two I was still on the phone with my friend and all-of-a-sudden I felt a cold chill go down my back and I could my breath come out of my mouth and I told my friend I was feeling a little cold when in the living then after that month passed I had no problems going on...

3connie says:
I know you might not know of any haunted houses, but it is not the house that is haunted. but the land.
Have you ever heard the saying "you just have to be there"? Well I was 30 years old and I lived in a haunted house for two-years, I guess, My mind just did not want to except what was going on, I mean the aparitions were not aggressive, but I knew something and everything I experienced was not normal in this life.

I know caswell county has alot of hauntings because the simple fact is, I lived in one for two-years. 4263 jughouserd caswell county. It is up th road from a lake that used to be called troxler's lake which is now leighs lake. I was pregnant for my first child with my second marriage and had two children from my first husband. The day we moved in we had to call an exterminator, in the middle of feb, because of the upstairs had bee's covering the window. we could never get rid of the bees no matter what we did. The house was always cold, Then I was in the house alone one morning and I heard foot-steps across the floor upstairs. I investigated and found nothing. My two children were found asleep on the couch one morning and told me they woke up to an elderly lady over them just staring at them. They ran downstairs and slept on the couch. Every night I would wake up at 3:15AM and I could hear a man in two woman talking, but you could not understand what they were saying it was muffled. I could go on and on about our experience there, but it was haunted and I lived there for two years and now I'am 49, I can't believe I stayed that long. SPOOKY.

There is a house in caswell co. I grow up there as a kid and the house was in my family for many years. Its on Rice Rd off of cherry grove rd.Things like the cabnet doors would open on there own, door knobs moving, ghostly figrues and there was a rocking chair that always sit in the hall that would rock on it's own and stop just as fast.We sold the house but its there. My grandfather shot himself in the house and his funeral was also held there...If anyone has any questions email me @ [email protected]

On a completely different note, there is an old house built of jugs (hence the name Jug House Rd) at Troxler's Lake. You wouldn't by chance have a picture of it would you?

I think so.

I've been research the history of the neighborhood. I recently heard from a neighbor that's lived there a long time that there were a number of drownings at Troxler's Lake and of course a number of revolutionary war soldiers camped in the area before and after the battle of Guilford Courthouse.

You just got me scared. I just had a chill run down my back. I am going out there this week-end and I will take pictures of this house and the land. Every thing you just said comes all together now. When we moved into the house, my children found old war letters. I never did take a look at them, I just gave them to the landlord. He told me they were from his great grandfather who was in war I know there was these little sheds about 8 of them all around the house, I just thought they were storage sheds. One night, my husband and I was awaken at 3:15 to a loud bang from upstairs. We just thought his weights had fell off of the weight bench The next morning he went upstairs and they were still on th weight bench. We did not see any house made out of jugs, but our house looked like the house from the movie "National Lampoon vacation to wally world with Chevy chase. His cousin's house on the farm. It reminded my husband of the house cousin lived in. I will get the pictures to you however you want after this week-end. I would love to see what you have. That house was haunted I knew it after one day. My husband he did not believe in those things but, after that house and the bees and it staying cold all the time it all added together. We lived there for two years after all those things happen but they just did not bother us. My children told me they were upstairs and my daughter had her homework on the table and they just flew up in the air like as if someone just picked them up and threw them up in the air.
As for the drownings, yes there were two drownings. One drowning when the lake was troxler's lake and the other when it was leighs lake. I would love to read what happen out there and any pictures you have researched.

Max,

After, I researched the information that you gave me on "the revolutionary battle of Guilford county court house, I asked my older friend that lives in caswell county and he says that the jug house you were asking about was the entrance to troxler lake swiming grounds, I didn't even relize that. I am 49 now and the last time I swam at troxler's lake was when I was 14. When I moved to jug house road back in the 90's I would not let my children swim out there because there was a drowning back in the 70's. A friend that I went to school with bought the lake and his name was Leigh, It was then called Leigh's receration.Another drowning happened . Leigh said he did not know how it could have happen, the lake was so secure and the best trained lifeguards were observing the lake non-stop. He was blood related to this person that drowned as I'am told. The last time I was out there, someone was digging a big hole beside the abandoned house. I went into the house and there were toys in boxes and glass every where like as if some one was packing to move out and they just left.I am going out there this week-end and I am going to take some pictures and I will let you know.

I use to go to Troxlers Lake all the time when I was a teenager. The Jug House is still there. However, I always thought that this was in Alamance County. Do you know who owns it now? Please email me at [email protected]

Glenn,
Troxler's lake is now Leigh's recreation center. It is Alamance County and 1/2 mile down the road is Caswell County. If you went to Troxler's lake than you should remember the road that you turn off of the highway to get to Troxler's lake. It use to be a dirt road, but now is paved. As you go straight you will see a sign on the left that reads "JUG HOUSE RD" I use to live on Jug house road before I found out about the Revolution war of Guilford county court house. The house was very haunted and I was not scared because I did not know that bee's on the window in the winter and COLD all the time in certain places, Voices that could be heard at 3:15am in the attic and the foot steps that would be heard walking across the floor was GHOST. There were more things that happen in that house than I care to write about. Anyway, Troxler's lake tunnel that you would go in to pay and get to the lake was made of JUGGS. If you would like any other information my e-mail is [email protected]

I am in contact with the lady who owns the Jug House. She has some pictures of the Jug House when it was in operation. She is going to let me borrow them to have some made. I will scan them and send them to you. Please send me an email to [email protected]

Bearhunter2007,

I actually saw the Maco lights when I was a kid. When they tore up the train tracks the light went away.
