I believe it was at the bottom of the hill were ou friend also crashed years ago. she also passed from injurys. our aunt was killed there before they fixed the part over the hill in the 1980s. why didn't they straighten the curve at the bottom when they fixed build new 127 over Walnut hill? Don't drink and drive and slow down, that's a 45MPH curve, not 55. Lets keep these folks in our thoughts and prayers.

Don't blame the road, a million other drivers have driven it.

It was on the part the redone where it narrows. they fixed road in 1993. The road was built 100% safe and its a new road, which shows its safe! They redone the road correctly, the problem 100% was the driver. Wish we had more wider roads like this but we don't. Not the new roads fault.

old roads are safer than new roads. curvy narrow roads are safer always. Its the drivers faults when they wreck. they shud stop widening and straightening our highways in Casey. Just like Dry Ridge, it was fine. it was drivers fault for wrecks. use that money to enforce drunk driving laws, not to make roads bigger and wider so people can speed. u cant really speed on 70 and its curvy and I hope they leave it the hell alone and start blaming drivers. keep our curving narrow roads, its what we grew up with, its what we like, its kinda like tradition. Just my take, screw u if u don't like it. ALWAYS DRIVERS FAULT

Thank God someone agrees with me:) Lets keep this discussion going. Do we want the state spending other counties money in our county, using others money from another county to fix out roads? If they get rough, ok repave it. but id even say lets not put up any more guardrails. u shud stay in ur lane and not go over whiteline to begin with. come on people, lets stop these idiots who want to blast out hills and make interstate type roads across the county. Id agree, theres more wrecks on 70 than there is 127 towards Russell County and its wide, but that's just because its straighter. if it was curvy more people wud wreck of course. what im saying, why fix the road(even though it may prevent people from wrecking) my point is leave the roads narrow. if someone wrecks, its because they were speeding, drugged, or drunk! Not because the road "caused them to wreck". I get tired of hearing people say "oh I cudnt see the car coming, it was a blind spot, there was a rise, or there was a tree" Its still YOUR FAULT. Lets accept responcibility for our wrecks!!!! If we don't, the dynamite and new roads will be cutting across out county in a matter of a few years. Man up, step up, and lets take responcibility!. I had a wreck last year, I was going 10 over the limit. This happened at the hill going towards Taylor County on 70. I hit rocks that had fallen off the hill, the rocks caused me to loose control. Guess what, im a big girl. He wanted to turn that into the highway dept so the road would get attention to be fixed, I told him it WAS MY FAULT. Anyone else ready to step up?:)

It feels so good, and liberating:) Come on people. I wish someone would start a anti road construction facebook page. Honestly. One for central KY but this isn't about other counties. Its about our county. PEACE:)

you are mistaken because if you look over in the field they put up utility poles so the road would be straight with the hill but the powers that be prevented it so they had to make a curve around a house at the bottom of the hill where it narrows and several people have died there but that house has burned down since so no reason not to make the road straight and safer now

Where 127 narrows at bottom of hill to the widened section where the new ky70 intersects, is 0.3 miles. It would cost a couple hundred thousand or so to fix this and straighten 127, which would mean a wider safer highway from gate shop south of Walnut hill, to past the new 70 intersection. This would be a completed piece of the puzzle and give motorist a breakdown lane, which doubles as extra pavement when someone does over correct, it gives them a few extra feet to correct instead of crashing. Complete the puzzle. South of Walnut hill the bridge is falling apart. Replace it with a wider one, add shoulders all way past Bread Of Life, maybe even a turn lane wherever its needed, and if that's done, u have a shouldered road with wider lanes from liberty to Phil. Or take it one step farther, all way to the yet to be build Dunnville bypass. You have a shouldered roadway with turn lanes, maybe one that's safer, from Liberty all way to Lake Cumberland in southern Russell County. Make sense?

I'm sorry, I'm new to area. Where exactly are you talking about that it's dangerous?

I drive 70 quite often. hadn't seen an accident yet. Knock on wood. haha

The best thing you could do IF you want to prevent people from being in a wrck or causing one is to ask them to "TURN LIGHTS ON" anytime their driving. It saves lives every day.

In many states almost everyone drives during the day with headlights ON. That is because it makes you easy to SEE by other drivers and easier for them to see you.
It works especially well for all these dark colored vehicles. Even if you're in a straight stretch and you want to pass, IF a dark colored vehicle is oncoming it is hard to see them or gauge how far away they are. With lights it gives a better chance of gauging the distance so you don't hit head on.

Many head on collisions could be avoided if LIGHTS had been ON.

I don't get these people who don't want to run with lights ON. I have a 2003 automobile and every single mile it has traveled has been with LIGHTS ON.
I have never had to replace a headlight.

So what is everybody's excuse? Just itching to be in a wreck?

Then you have morons who should nevr be allowed to drive who drive with no lights at dusk and even when its pretty dark.
I shake my head becuse I know those grey, blue, black and dark colored cars are just an accident waiting to happen.
Especially when you drive over these hills and curves.

Oh and parking lights are laughable for being seen. They don't help. Turn on headlights and LIVE longer!!

if you can't see a car without their headlights being on then YOU don't need to be driving so do us all a favor and stay off the roads

Alcohol was the factor in this accident, not the damned road.

Get rwal I agree! They did a great job when they re build 127 over the hill in the 1990s :) They made a good wide safe road. It had NOTHING to do with this good, safe, wide road. They fixed the road and done a 110% job constructing it and this is totally due to the driver. There will NEVER EVER be a wreck on Walnut Hill due to so called BAD ROAD. If someone wrecks its totally their or someone elses fault. Can we all agree on this? It IS a safe road:)

no it would have been a safe road if the road had been straight with the hill instead of there being a curve there because someone didn't want the road to go through their property. A little 17 year old girl was killed there no alcohol involved and numerous wrecks even a carload of teachers were hit head on there. the original road plan where the poles are out in the field putting the road straight with the hill and eliminating that deadly curve would have been more safe but as it is it is not as safe.

all the roads in Kentucky are way too narrow ,..
and most dont have any shoulder,,.... if you swerve off the pavement - at all ,....
you and your car are toast ,....
get with it you people ,...
maybe ky should spend less on welfare and give-away programs,....and widen the damn roads ,...
and put some guard rails up too --

How is the road or state to blame when everyone else that drives it every single day doesn't wreck?? If you 'swerve off the pavement' or whatever, isn't that your own fault?? Do want the taxpayers to line every road in the state with giant pillows so you won't get hurt when you 'swerve off the pavement'??
Wouldn't it be much, much more econimical for everyone if you just kept your car on the road like the rest of us do every single day? Also, why is this not obvious to you??

You poor, stupid bastard. I doubt you have ever even driven the roads two counties over, much less in other states. There aren't many positive things you can say about this pitiful state of toothless meth addicted sisterfucking rednecks, but I'll give KY this much- this state takes care of it's roads compared to everyone else.
But then, I'm not the one trying to blame the highway for a fatal accident by a drunk driver.

Also, I'll take that $500. There are 14 states with higher total traffic fatalities than KY, and six with higher fatalities per capita, despite the fact that KY is one of the poorest and least populated states with the most challenging topography (feel free to look up that word).

skinnyman why is it that four people have been killed in THAT curve and several people been hit head on in THAT curve but not on any other part of the hill? Why is it always THAT curve? Is that the only time the alcohol kicks in is in THAT curve? What about the 3 times that no one was drinking what was going on in THAT curve that wasn't going on anywhere else on the road?

local people will continue to die senseless deaths ,..

because the state of KY squanders and wastes millions & millions of dollars on worthless welfare idiots ,...

the growing numbers of welfare idiots will only beget more dependant welfare demanding and entitled children ,..

with less money to spend on roads ,..and infrastructure ,..
ky driving is extremely dangerous
