I think there is more to this story than what meets the eye..I don't know the people involved but at first glance it looks like a classic case of an abusive boyfriend that a kid got fed up with...but took it too far when defending his mother. I don't believe he should be tried as an adult but needs to be looked at closely to see if jail time or some kind of counseling is what's best for this kid.

Wow!! Congratulations Mr. Bermel, as it should be. The articles re: your situation have been so one sided...it is finally time to spill the beans. Anyone who knows what really happened knows you were acting in self-defense from the beginning.

For those who don't know Anderson was a radical ex-boyfriend. On that evening, Bermel called 911 when he found out Anderson had unlawfully drove off in the mother's vehicle (intoxicated) with intent to hurt Bermel. Anderson repeatedly attacked Bermel and his mother. Bermel's mother was body slammed by Anderson several times while attempting to pull Anderson off of Bermel. She was punched in the face, strangled and laying there unable to move. Mr. Bermel made several attempts to stop Mr. Anderson. At no time was Anderson ever beaten in the head repeatedly as reported. During a scuffle Mr. Anderson fell on the concrete and hit his head...period! There was no blood visible on any pipe found at the residence, nor did he suffer any other serious injuries due to Mr. Bermel attempting to protect his mother.

More importantly, ask yourselves why it would take a Chaska police officer 6 MINUTES to respond to a drunken, domestic call in route to Bermel's house and they were A MILE AWAY!

The city should be outraged by the money spent to try and prosecute this 16 year old boy...who should have never been charged to begin with...the city of Chaska should have to pay Bermel for the legal costs incurred.

We the people would love to hear from the jurors who clearly saw this and Bermel's actions as self-defense. This young man deserves to have his name cleared and held with respect.

With regard to the unprofessionalism/prejudice of the officers involved, I hope you are held accountable!
