Why shouldn't the city annex more locations. I mean look at all of the good the city has done with the tax money they are stealing, I mean collecting from everyone working inside the city now. The mayor and the council promised a lot when they ignored the wishes of the people and passed the last tax. Come on, give it to them. George may have some other friends that need jobs.

The mayor, according to the Independent article stated that he did not want to get into a verbal war with the judge. In other words, he does not care to hear any other view points.

It doesn't have to happen.

The property owners just need to get organized and fight this out of control city government.

It does not have to happen but it will because there will not be enough people stand up against it. People tend to stand by and do nothing unless the action directly affects them. Get ready everyone. The mayor and his council tasted the goodness of the taxation and now there will be no stopping them. They will take what they want from whomever they want then they will do whatever they want with the money.

If it's only small tracts of land owned by a few landowners, they need to get together and create a petition, then turn it in to the clerk. They ought not fear their government!!

There's nothing for the rest of us to do, since we don't really have a say in the petitioning.

There's no reason to show up to any city council meetings, as Mayor Steele has made it very apparent that when he sets his mind to something, it can't be changed. Look at the comment he made to Charlie Wallace!! His head has really swelled, and the council, with the exception of Pearl, do whatever he wants.

The city's goal here is to be able to TAX the jail, and ambulance workers, as well as whomever purchases the old CPI building.

Someone should run for Mayor next term with the sole purpose of rescinding the payroll tax.

The way the government works, or I should say doesn't work around here is all so very confusing to everyone. I always thought you had to live in the city limits to hold an office. I found out that isn't always the case.
