To the Editor: As a resident of Carroll County, I would like to know why people from different states can work right here in my backyard while someone like me cannot find any work.

Would you please elaborate on who you are referring to as "you guys"?

Hmmm...I believe a major skill needed is to be able to "communicate".

Well, do you have the skills they need? Blanket statements mean nothing, do the leg work.

Even if you have the skills they need, it doesnt make sense for a company to hire and train new employees everytime they come into a new town.

It's actually less expensive to house their traveling team. If you have the skills, knowledge and resources to do the job and are willing to travel, I'm sure you would be considered for a position.

*Proper grammar may or may not be one of the skill sets. Especially when working the blue collar position.

So true and thanks for your input on this discussion. Yes and when employed in a blue collar position, proper grammar may not be as important but I feel communication barriers could lead into bigger problems and to be able to communicate effectively is definately of upmost importance.

What skills do they want Lori? If I were interested in a job I would research what they need. I would call them and ask about the jobs available and required skills. I would adjust my reseme' to show my related experiences. I have done this in the past when I went job hunting. I did the leg work. To your question Lori, yes.
