Why is it the responsibility of the oil and gas companies to feed people? There are organizations that have food banks in the county. There are also churches that can help. Don't forget Uncle Sam with the food stamp program and WIC. If anyone is going hungry they need to contact one of these groups for help.

I don't think it is ANYONE's responsibility to feed anyone. And from the looks of the fat and obese people I see all over carroll county, I think that 14% is overrated. Food stamps and WIC are prevalent in this county. Most times the person in line ahead of me is using them. Too many Americans are lazy and dependent on our government, businesses, tax payers and even church goers to take care of them. THEY EXPECT IT!

Yes, true the food stamp program is overused. But when is the last time you checked out the jobs situation around here? 90% of the jobs are minimum wage. You cannot feed yourself on poverty wages.

Then stop getting tattoos, stop smoking, stop with the booze, get a second job, grow your own food, get rid of your computor and the monthly fee, drop the cable tv, walk when you have to and save gas. There are a lot of ways to cut costs for more money to pay for food. John, 90% of the jobs are not minimum wage. I had a full time and two part time when I needed to. All you have john are excuses, whiner. Sit back and blame everone and every thing is your motto.

Problem with our economy is first how easy it is for government programs. These should be limited time. Can't get a job? go back to school! The problem is most Americans are over-weight, and so many babies are being born into the world to poor families. Why continue to bring grief upon your children by raising them in poverty. Programs like these are meant for people who are mentally challenged, elderly, or handicap. People abuse the system and it is not there for me or anyone else who has paid into it if need be. Grown veggies and stop shopping at Wal-mart.

Dependence on government assistance today tends to be cyclical. There is a certain acceptance of "this is my lot in life" today that wasn't there in earlier generations.
