"Environmental and regulatory assets"...???

Translation; We will appoint the foxes to guard the hen house!

Fracking is criminal, and must be stopped.

What's wrong with fracking for oil & gas if it's between two concenting adults, done in a safe way and kept within the confines of their own property. This is a free county isn't it.

"An Oklahoma company has discovered oil and natural-gas resources in eastern Ohio that it thinks could be worth up to $20billion, an announcement that shows the economic potential of Utica shale." Note the classic "up to". That means anything from $0 to $20 billion. Typical spin from press release writers, in over estimating benefits. Chesapeake is a notoriously politically active company. They funded extensive anti-coal ads a couple of years ago in the hope to drive out coal and drive up the price of natural gas. Don't trust what they say.

As long as Kasich is Governor, most of Ohio will be one huge frack. He's de-regulating the practice more and more each day. But, you have to consider the risk and reward...a small chance of a frack treatment causing earthquakes and contaminating water wells vs. millions of dollars and some jobs.

That's great. Now we know approximately what our State parks and natural water supplys are worth. No mention of what the states share of that ,up to 20 billion, would be.

No Ohioans are being employed here. The rigs are from out-of-state and staffed by out-of-state crews. Where are jobs for Ohioans?

Now that's funny...and I agree.

What's the value of Ohio's water supply that will be both tapped and endangered? See Pennsylvania for details. Kaslick and his oil and gas cronies will have enough money to ditch Ohio and move elsewhere. The rest of us are stuck.

China owns Husky Energy with refineries in Lima and Toledo.. China is buying riverfront (port) property in Toledo and Cleveland. China is buying Ohio farmland. China is making me nervous.

By the time we give tax breaks and incentives to Chesapeake we the citizens of the state will recieve nothing for our natural resources. why not give some one in state a reason to develope this project and keep all that money here?

Okay Ohio, this is not hard:

a. The chemicals they pump into the earth to extricate the gas and oil will poison our groundwater - it's already happening elsewhere
b. The jobs Kasich is jumping up and down about are temporary and we won't see our energy prices drop a nickel as a result of fracking
c. The guy from Oklahoma, well, he lives in Oklahoma. As far as Kasich is concerned - he's a millionaire and doesn't have to worry about what he or his children

Fracking makes millionaires and billionaires richer and totally and absolutely screws working people and our children - not to mention the environment we live in.

This is what you get when you vote in someone with an unremarkable albeit questionable work history. He and the rest of his millionaire cronies are in the process of picking over the carcass that we call Ohio. And they'll all go live elsewhere, not necessarily in this country, when their finished. In the George W. Bush fashion, they'll make a disaster of everything then move on to their lives of luxury.

CANTON, Pa.-- A natural gas company has suspended "fracking" at all of its wells throughout Pennsylvania until it figures out the cause of a spill in the northern part of the state.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. said Thursday that crews have significantly reduced the flow of chemical-laced water from its out-of-control well near Canton in Bradford County.

Spokesman Brian Grove says that the exact cause of Tuesday night's breach is unknown, but that it's located in a wellhead connection.

Thousands of gallons of drilling fluids were spilled. They escaped containment, crossed over farm fields and went into a stream.

I find it duplistic and hypocritical the way teapublicans rail on endlessly during campaigns about the DEBT being thrust upon their children, while ignoring the impact of UNREGULATED corporations they want to GIVE the people of Ohio's land over to, including our precious park lands.

these people just won't or cannot tell the truth. water resources which are absolutely needed for life are being poisoned and the air contamination from flaring, accidents and other emissions are deadly. there is nothing good about ruining the very area in which we want to live and raise our children.unsound in finance, unsound in planning...bad business.

I hope that we are able to benefit as a state and a nation from these new finds. Lower energy prices help everyone and we should be embracing this.
