WTF? Why would anyone pretend to be abducted - is she not getting enough attention at home? Also, look at the manpower that was wasted in a falsely reported crime, which is a crime itself. I am glad she wasn't really abducted, but there should be consequences for her actions... that was just a stupid cry for help which hopefully she will get.

So in matter of one week there has been an expenditure of over $100,000 for one "missing" child and one "abduction". What a waste of manpower and resources!

last week, boy pretended to kidnap his girlfriend at a walmart for fun, this week a girl claims to be abducted... what about the real abduction in Kansas that turned to tragedy when the girl was found murdered?
when are people going to learn? my prayers are with the Kansas family and my hopes are the Carroll Co. girl gets the help she needs

Boy, it sure does seem like this is "Cry Wolf and Get Everyone Riled Up" week. What with the 9 year old and now this 17 year old girl, who knows just what to believe? I guess better safe than sorry, right? I only hope that they didn't ruin anything for the girls out there who REALLY need help...

Sounds like a great candidate for an involuntary commitment order to a state psychiatric facility (if one still exists).

i completely agree. do you remember the "runaway bride", she has had to do thousands of hours of community service to reimburse the local and state governments for the money they spent searching for her. this troubled young lady should have to do the same and get some psychological help as well. this completely discounts the severity of an actual abduction.

This "child" needs to be punished for wasting everyone's time. What if something had happened to another child? She would have been to blame if help could not have gotten there. Some people just need to learn from their mistakes.

then what really happened? did she just decide to go for a walk and then laid herself down in the grass? honestly, what in the world would provoke someone to do something like that?

Did anything "recovered" at the hospital belong to any of the teen's "boyfriends"

What was on her MySpace.com page?

Is it because she's the relative of a Sherrif's Dept employee that the Teen wasn't taken into custody? She needs to know how serious her little ploy for attention really is.

Teen girls need close supervision and suspicous fathers. Teen boys need hours and hours of hard physical labor. They only look like people. They aren't, really. Don't you remember?

"All information related to the case will be turned over to the Carroll County Juvenile Office." I assume this means she has been formally charged with false reporting and will learn the consequences of her actions.

Remember this case if you're ever tempted to judge someone guilty without any evidence other than the accuser's word.

Remember the girls who are recanting their rape claims at the juvenile center.

Remember all the daycare center workers who have been imprisoned, only to be freed years later after the kids grew up and finally told the authorities that they lied, or were coached to lie.

Remember the Salem witch trials, where people were killed based on the word of young girls, and due to the ignorant belief that children and women don't lie.
